ACT Science

ACT Science

I have an electrical engineering degree from Marquette University with a mathematics minor and a specialty in physics. I also love the challenge of making things understandable. Because of my extensive experience in tutoring as well as professional applications, I understand how math, physics, and ACT science apply in the real world. I like to help my students understand the concepts and not just get the answers. This helps them stand on their own as soon as possible
Adobe Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop

Other concepts I have procedures for include: portrait control, using liquification to enhance body shape, copy and replace objects from one image to another such as heads, eyes, or a complete person. Advanced use of cloning, enhancing boring skies, creating a personalized signature brush, etc.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

Since I have tutored everything from fundamental mathematics up through calculus, I understand algebra 1 as an important stepping stone to either additional mathematical studies as well as other areas of applications such as physics, chemistry, etc.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

Additionally, I have a bachelor of electrical engineering from Marquette University with a minor in mathematics and physics. I feel that mathematics is a fundamental discipline that could be required for not only your future education but any career endeavor you may pursue.
ASVAB

ASVAB

I am always proud to meet and help someone qualify to defend our country. since my background in mathematics includes all of the disciplines through calculus and physics, the mathematics material in the ASVAB testing is certainly included. I have also had several students in the past that have resulted in total satisfaction and return requests for help. I don't know which students have completed their acceptance into our military, but I can say that the ASVAB mathematics material did not hold him back.
Calculus

Calculus

In addition to my physics background, my mathematics tutoring expertise includes algebra (1 and 2), geometry, calculus, trigonometry and differential equations. On top of my technical skill, I focus on clarity helping my students understand the concepts and not just get answers. This helps the students stand on his or her own as soon as possible, so the student feels ready and comfortable about any up and coming tests or exams. Prior to my teaching and tutoring services, I was a practicing Electrical Engineer specializing in many aspects including: circuit design, E and M, software development, IT services, and various levels of technical support.
Discrete Math

Discrete Math

I have a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with a mathematics minor from Marquette University. I have tutored math up to calculus, and physics, etc. for five years at Paradise Valley Community College. At the time I had received Level I and level II tutoring certificates required by the Maricopa community college system. I also tutored for CLUB Z, a private tutoring service in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area. I was also a substitute teacher in the Paradise Valley unified school system And the Scottsdale unified school system.
Electrical Engineering

Electrical Engineering

I have a degree in electrical engineering from Marquette University with a specialty in circuit design and mathematics. I spent my career in the electrical engineering field specializing in hardware design, software design, integrated circuits, and information technology. I have 3 patents: the design of a pulse width modulated monostable multivibrator, tunnel diode application, integrated hardware software memory protect in rotating memory systems.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

My strength is clarity and discipline of ordering information on what we are working on. I also look for feedback on student understanding of the concepts. Math is my specialty with applications to word problems or just the basic process.
Geometry

Geometry

I have tutored geometry at Paradise Valley Community College as well as one-on-one in-home services through another private tutoring company here in the Valley. I have also practiced the use of geometric principles in some of my engineering work during my career as an electrical engineer.
Information Technology

Information Technology

My Electrical engineering background involved theoretical and practical accomplishments included use of Newtonian physics forces, field theory, kinematics (linear and angular), electricity and magnetism, circuit analysis and design (AC/DC), etc. I have applied this knowledge helping students score high in the ASVAB and other military exams; study and preparation for the important levels of certification including GED and SAT/ACT. I am also certified in IXL and apply the concept upon request or as I see appropriate based upon the particular situation.
Microsoft Outlook

Microsoft Outlook

I am qualified to tutor Outlook because I have used Outlook for at least 10 years both in the corporate and in the residential environment. In addition to the simplicity of reading and sending emails, the strength of Outlook lies in its additional features such as logging and maintaining a contact database, a calendar and scheduling database, and a task database to manage your daily activities. It is also important to know how to set up the parameters associated with your specific Internet service provider. I have tutored 4 years for the Learning Support Center Of Paradise Valley Community College where I have received level I and level II tutoring certificates.
Microsoft Project

Microsoft Project

In my career as a technical project manager, I used Microsoft Project for most of my projects and required my staff do the same. We became experts in the use of PERT Charting and Ghantt Charts to set up the project for project control, budgeting, and economic analysis. Then during the lifecycle of the project, we used Microsoft Project to manage and control, track progress, track budget, report to upper management, perform re-planning, And general control of the project. We also prepared higher level charts for communication to upper management allowing them to track the progress of several projects simultaneously
Microsoft Windows

Microsoft Windows

I support several customers in the Microsoft Windows operating system either face-to-face or using remote control support from my office. At the moment I would say I have about 30 customers that rely upon me about 100% for their Microsoft Windows operating system support. This includes support for slow systems, infected systems, general navigation, and new system installations and conversions. this support then moves into the general office applications associated with the Windows environment such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Photography

Photography

Currently teaching three levels of digital camera at Paradise Valley community college including "shooting in raw". As owner operator of my private company, I currently in photographing family portraits and individual portraits and family events. This includes shooting portraits for several business websites. I have been doing individual, family, and event photography for over 30 years. My experience also includes Photoshop, as I teach a basic and advanced class in Photoshop Elements at community colleges, libraries, and community centers.
Physics

Physics

As part of my electrical engineering degree, my emphasis was physics and mathematics. My expertise includes how mathematics applies to the physical sciences. I actively maintain information in files on the current material published in physics so that I can best help I students. This includes the fringe areas of AC and DC circuit design which most students struggle with. I have a fresh knowledge of applying Kirchoff's rules to circuits and using Thevenin and Norton Voltage and current models respectively.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

My background includes a degree in electrical engineering with mathematics minor. Used all forms of Mathematics including algebra, trigonometry, geometry, and calculus in my work as well as in coaching others.
Precalculus

Precalculus

Pre-calc is one of my strong points as I was a physics major for a while where, algebra II, calc, trig are very important pre-requisites.
Trigonometry

Intermediate Algebra

Mr.B. worked with me with my "rational expressions". He was very patience and took time to explain to me "step by steps". You know the "uhuh" moment? Yes it happened to me. Ahuh! I figure out why I was having hard time because I was lacking the "basic". I highly recommend Mr. B. if you need help with any lessons. Thank you for your help! I will continue taking lessons with him until I am done with my Math classes.

Great approach with a shy, less confident student - Geometry

My son has a lesson with Richard. He said he enjoyed it and is thorough with his teaching approach. He even provided additional diagrams so he can refer back to them. My son asked for another lesson! Thank you, Richard.
