Dear Parents and Students,

Hello, my name is Amy and I am a graduate of Arizona State University and Grand Canyon University. I received a BA in English, my Masters in Special Education and my Education Specialist in Teaching and Learning. I am a certified and highly qualified Special Education Teacher, but I have been an academic tutor through several different experiences since 2009. I have tutored with Mesa Public Schools as well as America Reads/Counts, a work study program through Arizona State University.

Most of my expertise has been with reading, writing and math, tutoring grades K-8. I was an AVID tutor at Carson Junior High School as well as the Native American tutor at Redbird Elementary. I have done one-on-one and small group tutoring. What makes me unique is that I have worked with a variety of students from different backgrounds and cultures. I have also worked with special needs students, with my strong area being Autism. I am also experienced in delivering instruction online. I love to tutor, and I look forward to working with you.

I love working with children with special needs! I am currently attending school for Special Education. I have also worked one-on-one with students who have autism. My goal is to someday be an Autism teacher, but for now I tutor the children and I also do habilitation and respite for special needs.

Elementary (K-6th)

For the past three years, I have dedicated my life to tutoring elementary children. Any age, any level, children are always a joy to tutor. I have participated in structured programs like America Reads as well as being an Instructional Assistant for Mesa Public Schools. It is no secret that teaching these children is a lifelong passion of mine.
Elementary Math

I have been a tutor for mathematics for grades K-8 this year specializing in pre-algebra and algebra 1. I have worked with a group as well as individually with students to improve their math skills. I love to create fun math activities for students to play.

English

I currently teach Resource English for 6-12th grade at Primavera Online. I have worked with a variety of abilities.
Phonics

Phonics

I have a BA in English. For the past six months, I have spent my time teaching students to become better readers. I spent a great amount of time teaching basic phonics to kindergarten and first graders, which gave me patience. I love to look at words and letter sounds. I love to figure out the meaning behind them. Teaching students how to read is one of the greatest joys as a tutor.

Amy is awesome. She is so patient and fun. Our son loves his tutoring sessions!

We are so happy that we found Amy as a tutor for our son. He has been struggling with some of his 5th grade math topics, things like multiplication and division which are fundamentals and so important were causing him some struggles. Amy has helped him so much. His homework is done and his progress is obvious. We highly recommend Amy as a tutor!
