Hello, I'm Allison! I graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in Biology, with a focus on conservation biology and ecology and a minor in religious studies. I first began tutoring when I was in high school while working my way through the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. I found that I had a knack for biology, and I loved helping my classmates understand the complexities of living systems. It was during this time that I also began volunteering as a tutor for my English teachers.
Since that time, I have worked as a teaching assistant helping students from introductory biology to specialized ecology courses. Teaching is a passion of mine, and there is nothing I enjoy more than seeing that "click" when a student finally understands the material in front of them.
Not only do I have experience working in a classroom teaching students biology, but I also have nearly four years of hands on research experience in biology, spanning subjects of ornithology to soil science. My experience working in active lab environments has not only given me a wider base of knowledge about biology as a subject, but has honed my ability to explain complex topics in a simple, approachable manner.
I have been helping students improve their writing skills for many years. During my time at university, I received a minor in religious studies, which required not only an exemplary command of the written language, but the ability to read and synthesize difficult texts.
