I taught first through 5th grade for 10 years. I taught first through eighth grade for 9 years and I taught 1 year of high school math resource. I have 20 years teaching experience. I was trained on Spauling and on the Phonic's Reading program. I also took courses for a certificated as a Reading Specialist. I earned my Master's Degree in Special Education Cross-Categorical from Grand Canyon University in 2015. I taught Elementary and Intermediate classes to students with special needs as a resource teacher. I have also work with students in the general education classroom as a classroom teacher and also as an inclusion teacher. I have taught 6-trait writing using rubrics. I also taught reading comprehension using various reading programs. I taught elementary math, consumer math and pre-algebra.

I have taught the majority of my 20 years in Elementary Education. I have a masters degree in special education. I love teaching phonics, reading and writing. I especially find it rewarding to see students gain abilities and confidence in achieving their academic and social goals.

I have taught 12 years of elementary school age students. Specifically I taught handwriting to 1st graders and 2nd graders for 6 years. I continued to teach various age students throughout my 20 year teaching career the importance of cursive writing as well as writing legible print. Even in this age of technology handwriting in a coherent manner in which others can read what you wrote is still necessary and valuable.

I want to help your child learn how to proofread their writing. It will help them improve their writing skills if they are able to review and reflect on what they have written. I use rubric sheets for various types of writing. I personally love to write. I also enjoy teaching others to write to express their thoughts, feelings, or information.

Reading

I have been through reading specialist classes and have taught many various reading programs throughout my 20 years of elementary school teaching. My students have all improved their reading fluency and comprehension through the lessons and teaching I provided for them daily.
Special Needs

Special Needs

I have been teaching mostly elementary school age children for 15 years. I have also taught resources classes for k-8 grade for an additional 5 years. I have experience in teaching academic skills as well as daily living skills that help students to gain abilities and confidence in their skills. I would love to help your child become more independent and successful. I earned my Master's Degree in Special Education Cross-Categorical.

Reviews

Knowledgeable and patient teacher

We love Judy she was so amazing with our son who is 5. He has a very short attention span but Judy was patient and took breaks to play games with him or find things to do that would use his whole body to learn. He enjoyed his time with her which is especially helpful right now because we are really struggling with kindergarten and the whole virtual learning, it really helps to have the one on one time.
