My name is Shiv and I have been a private tutor for the last 5 years in various math, science, and English high school courses. Currently I am a student at ASU where I study Neurobiology and English Literature.

My name is Shiv and I have been a private tutor for the last 5 years in various math, science, and English high school courses. Currently I am a student at ASU where I study Neurobiology and English Literature.

As a neurobiology major, I have much experience with advanced sciences, including AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics 1 and 2, and AP Calculus. I've worked with a wide range of students for these courses in addition to tutoring for SAT prep. Having taken all these exams in high school myself, I LOVE working with students excel in these exams and courses - many of my students have excelled on these exams and have gone on to receive admission to prestigious universities such as UCLA, UCSD, Johns Hopkins, Yale, and more.

My passion for tutoring comes from the basic idea of altruism. As such, I have found that being a mentor to students is one of the most rewarding things that anyone could do; working with students on basic algebra all the way to helping them submit their college applications, I have been able to understand how different students learn and master content. When I first meet with my students, either in-person or online, my main goal is to figure which strategies and techniques would best help them accomplish their goals. Whether they be homework assistance, exam prep or advice on college admissions, I would be grateful to have your student as my own and give them the tools to excel in whatever they seek to accomplish.

I have previously instructed Algebra and AP Calculus AB/BC students in preparation for national exams (SAT and AP) in both the classroom setting and private sessions. Having scored a perfect score of 5 on my AP exams as well as a perfect score on the SAT and ACT math test, I have much experience with recognizing what strategies are most efficient for certain types of students. In addition, being able to allow students to recognize their own best strategies for learning and retaining information is something I strive for with every student.

I think as a parent of any child your greatest hope when looking for a tutor is finding someone who can relate to your student.
