Areas of specialization:

Teaching Experience:
• Internal Medicine Clerkship Teaching Assistant
• Tutoring Step 2 & Clinical Shelf Exams as an M4
• MCAT biology and organic chemistry instructor at The Princeton Review
• Private organic chemistry tutoring (Self-developed educational tutoring website)
• Teaching assistant for organic chemistry & biochemistry (UC Davis)
• Lead tutor at Academic Assistance and Tutoring Center (UC Davis)

I particularly enjoy tutoring step 1, step 2, and clinical shelf exams. Since taking step 2, I have tutored 20 students over 350 hours in addition to review sessions given as an internal medicine teaching assistant.

Tutoring approach:
I have found the most success with going through NBME questions and using them as a framework to teach related high-yield concepts. For example, a question about renal cell carcinoma can be a segway into discussing paraneoplastic syndromes including the paraneoplastic syndromes of small cell squamous cell lung cancer. On this same question, we may discuss that renal cell carcinoma is an example of carcinomas that spread hematogenously rather than carcinoma's typical lymphatic spread (along with HCC, choriocarcinoma, follicular thyroid cancer, and sarcomas). Students appreciate this approach as it targets many questions and scenarios instead of one question.

I prepare for each session and make learning as active as possible to maximize our time together. If you are not 100% satisfied with our tutoring session, I will not hesitate to issue a full refund. I am looking forward to hearing from you!

My passion for radiology was among my top reasons for pursuing the field. I also love to find key mnemonics to help you retain information and integrate with clinical applications. My approach is flexible, whether you need help with applications, mastering course material, or simply guidance from someone who’s been through the process.
Basketball

Basketball

I have been playing basketball since 4th grade and I have been obsessed ever since. Growing up across a park, I spent much of my childhood working on my game with friends, looking for any opportunity to get better. Whenever I have an opportunity to play, I jump on it. I have a deep passion for basketball and have spent countless hours studying the game.

Incredibly knowledgeable and kind Step 2 tutor!

I seriously can’t say enough good things about Eric as a Step 2 tutor! He is extremely knowledgeable, but what really sets him apart is his teaching style. He doesn’t just lecture at you, but gets you problem-solving and forming differentials on your own through Q&A sessions. Over the three months we worked together, Eric helped methodically build up my knowledge base. His systematic approach to tutoring was very helpful in helping me achieve my goals. Not only did I pass my COMP exam, but I'm now consistently scoring above my goal on practice tests. Overall, Eric is an excellent tutor and I would highly recommend him to anyone preparing for Step 2!

Very Patient Tutor

Eric was very patient and kind over the month and a half he tutored me. He made each concept understandable and broke down how to analyze the vignette to know what is being asked. He is an amazing tutor that truly knows the material!

Best Step 2 Tutor!

Eric is the best tutor I've found. He is incredibly knowledgeable and was very well-prepared for each tutoring session. Every session was efficient and helped me learn and retain concepts much faster than studying UWorld or other question banks alone. His guidance on study planning and using the best resources is top-notch and overall, I had a great experience with Eric.

Very good at explaining.

Eric helped me understand Organic Chemistry topics like elimination/substitution and the relative stability of alkenes. His explanations are very clear and he draws out the processes for each problem as a helpful visual.

An Amazing Tutor! Extremely Helpful for the Che 118 series!

Eric is a very patient and kind tutor. He ensures that you leave every tutoring session with a greater understanding of the material. Eric presents organic chemistry in a less intimidating way and actually makes the material fun! I was pleased with all of the tips and personalized information given to help my specific needs. He has plenty of resources and practice material which allows for mastery. He is very flexible to your personal schedule and will even hold longer tutoring sessions near exam times. I cannot stress enough how compassionate Eric is and how helpful his tutoring sessions are. With Eric's help, I was able to get A's through the entire organic chemistry series at UC Davis. I would highly recommend his tutoring services!

Easy going and knowledgeable tutor.

Eric taught me ways to approach stereochemistry that really made sense. He worked through my examples and brought up some tricky examples of his own. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.

Review for Eric

Eric is one of the best chemistry tutors I could find. I got a C in my organic chemistry 118A. So chemistry was totally not my subject. And moving forward to studying OCHEM 118B, I had a D in the first midterm and I met Eric for the tutor afterwards. And he helped me to get an A- on the second midterm. I honestly thought I would fail the class, but Eric helped me to end up with a B in the class. He also truly cares about his students and tries his best to help whenever he can. He also creates his own practice problems for you to work on after tutoring.

good caring tutor!!!

Eric helps me the most part of my ochem class. I love his teaching styles. he does not only teaches why it is the correct but focuses on why it should be, the mechanism behind question. his notes are extremely clear and organizable. to be honest, my scores increase after taking his class. Highly recommend !!
