Teaching and tutoring provide skills, awareness and knowledge that enable students to succeed in their immediate and lifetime goals. It is not about learning tricks or gimmicks to game a test. It is about discovering the way(s) to learn best, minimizing effort and maximizing outcomes.

I have been teaching for over a decade in-person and online in high school and college classrooms in the United States and Japan. I serve annually as an AP grader and IB examiner in History. I have worked in and managed writing centers specializing in essay revision and college entrance. I am also an organic farmer, running a three-acre teaching farm on which I demonstrate sustainable practices, provide gardening workshops and discuss environmental principles. I have a PhD in World History, an MA in modern Japanese history and a BA in English Literature and Philosophy.

Through tutoring, I calibrate our sessions to what you need and want to learn. I do not use a cookie-cutter approach. We assess what you are working on, what materials you are using, what skills and content you need to learn, and we tackle that content as straightforwardly as possible.

If you are looking for a tutor who actively modulates instruction based upon you and your goals, please write.

Efficient and productive session for AP Euro

Adam is highly knowledgeable and knows the AP Euro material well. He has great communication skills (patient yet direct, organized) and has enough experience as a tutor to make the hour extremely productive. The session that my daughter had with Adam definitely has had a positive impact on how she views the subject matter. Highly recommended.

Great tutor

My son was impressed with his first lesson. He told me mom he’s a genius. He knows everything and explained to me in such an easy way. Also he said he’s a cool tutor. The empathy is part of the success. I'm glad we've chosen Adam.

Awesome Tutor

My experience with Adam so far has been nothing but awesome. He genuinely wants to help my son succeed in school not just “another session”. Adam goes out of his way to help even though he’s not feeling well or it’s a late night. He is a great tutor.

AP Euro

Adam is a great AP Euro tutor!!! We would highly recommend him as he is detailed in his explanations and very patient with his students. He reviewed 3 chapters with my son and now my son feels much more confident about the material. We will be doing more sessions with Adam. We highly recommend him.
