I am currently a medical student at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix and a graduate of Vanderbilt University, where I attended on a full-ride merit scholarship. Before Vanderbilt, I graduated as valedictorian of BASIS Peoria with a 4.0 GPA. Having navigated highly competitive academics, standardized testing, college admissions, and the medical school admissions process firsthand, I understand both the challenges students face and the strategies that help them succeed. I scored highly on both the SAT and MCAT and enjoy helping students approach difficult material, testing, and applications with more confidence and structure.

Over the past several years, I have worked with students through peer mentoring, academic support, leadership positions, and one-on-one tutoring. I have experience helping middle school, high school, and college students with SAT preparation, study skills, college essay editing, admissions preparation, and premed advising. I especially enjoy working with students who are motivated but may feel overwhelmed, discouraged, or unsure how to study or present themselves effectively. My goal is not only to help students improve academically, but also to help them become more confident and independent learners over time.

My tutoring style is patient, encouraging, and individualized. I believe every student learns differently, so I adapt sessions to fit each student’s learning style and goals. For some students, that means breaking down concepts step by step and building strong foundations. For others, it means improving organization, time management, test-taking strategy, or developing compelling application essays. I strive to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes while being challenged to grow academically and personally.

Whether you are preparing for the SAT, working through a challenging science course, applying to college, or preparing for the MCAT, I would love to help you reach your goals.

Approved Subjects

EMT/ NREMT

EMT/ NREMT

As a Nationally Registered EMT and current medical student, I have a strong foundation in emergency medical care, patient assessment, anatomy and physiology, and prehospital medicine. I successfully passed the NREMT exam on my first attempt and understand both the content knowledge and test-taking strategies required to succeed. I enjoy helping students prepare for EMT coursework, practical skills, and the NREMT examination. My approach focuses on building a strong understanding of core concepts while helping students apply their knowledge to patient scenarios and exam-style questions. Whether you are preparing for your EMT class, clinical experiences, or the NREMT, I strive to create a supportive and structured learning environment that helps students feel confident and prepared.
Interview Prep

Interview Prep

As a current medical student, Vanderbilt graduate, and experienced public speaker, I have firsthand experience navigating competitive admissions and interview processes. Throughout my academic journey, I earned admission to multiple highly selective universities and medical schools, giving me extensive experience preparing for and succeeding in high-stakes interviews. I understand what interviewers are looking for and how applicants can communicate their experiences in a confident, authentic, and memorable way. My approach to interview preparation focuses on helping students develop strong communication skills, organize their thoughts effectively, and answer questions with confidence rather than relying on memorized responses. I work with students on common interview questions, behavioral and situational responses, storytelling, professionalism, and strategies for handling difficult or unexpected questions. Whether you are preparing for a college interview, scholarship interview, medical school interview, or another academic opportunity, I strive to create a supportive environment that helps you feel comfortable, polished, and prepared on interview day.
MCAT

MCAT

I scored in the 90+ percentile on the MCAT and have extensive firsthand experience with the preparation, discipline, and strategy required to succeed on the exam. My tutoring approach focuses not only on content review, but also on helping students improve passage analysis, critical thinking, timing, and overall test-taking confidence. I understand how overwhelming MCAT preparation can feel and work to make the process more structured and manageable for each student. I tailor sessions to each student’s goals and learning style, whether they need help creating a study plan, strengthening weak content areas, reviewing practice exams, or improving testing strategy. My goal is to help students study more efficiently, build confidence over time, and approach the exam with a clear and effective plan.
Personal Statements

Personal Statements

As a current medical student and Vanderbilt University graduate, I have extensive experience crafting successful personal statements, secondary essays, and application narratives. My own application process resulted in multiple medical school acceptances, multiple merit scholarship offers, and admission to highly selective universities. Through these experiences, I developed a strong understanding of how admissions committees evaluate applicants and what makes an essay memorable, authentic, and compelling. I have helped students brainstorm, outline, revise, and refine personal statements and application essays for college, medical school, scholarships, and other competitive programs. My approach focuses on helping students identify their most meaningful experiences, build a clear narrative, and communicate their strengths in a way that remains genuine to their voice. Whether a student is struggling to get started or polishing a final draft, I strive to provide actionable feedback that improves both the quality of the writing and the overall application.
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

As a current medical student, Vanderbilt graduate, and nationally competitive public speaker, I have extensive experience communicating effectively in high-pressure settings. I competed at the national level in both Speech & Debate and Mock Trial, including earning a Top 10 finish as Captain at the National Collegiate Mock Trial Championship. These experiences helped me develop strong skills in public speaking, argumentation, persuasion, storytelling, and professional presentation. In addition to competing, I have extensive experience coaching and mentoring students in public speaking and oral advocacy. As president of Vanderbilt Mock Trial, I taught public speaking, case analysis, and oral argument skills to dozens of students, many of whom went on to achieve success at regional and national competitions. This experience taught me how to break down complex communication skills into practical, individualized strategies that help students improve quickly and confidently. My approach focuses on helping students become confident, authentic, and engaging speakers. I work with students on speech organization, delivery, presentation skills, managing nerves, audience engagement, and effective communication in academic, professional, and competitive settings. Whether you are preparing for a speech, presentation, competition, interview, or leadership role, I strive to create a supportive environment that helps you communicate clearly and confidently.
SAT Reading

SAT Reading

I have extensive experience with standardized testing and academic mentorship. I scored in the 99th percentile on the SAT Reading and Writing section and have helped students develop stronger reading comprehension, grammar, passage analysis, and test-taking strategies. Through tutoring, mentoring, and my own academic experience, I have learned how to break down challenging concepts into clear and manageable steps. My approach focuses on helping students identify patterns in missed questions, strengthen critical reading skills, and develop a systematic approach to the SAT. I work with students to improve both accuracy and confidence while creating study plans tailored to their goals. Whether a student is aiming for steady improvement or a top percentile score, I strive to create a supportive and engaging learning environment.

Excellent tutor that helped me push past my plateau on MCAT

Having Anavi as my MCAT tutor was truly game-changer. She showed me how I should strategically study for the MCAT and what would actually improve my score. I was able to move past the plateau that I was at stuck at while studying by myself and was able to score 8 points higher on the real exam. Anavi is very client-oriented and tailors her session to best meet your needs and goals. I would 100% recommend Anavi as an MCAT tutor!

2nd times a charm!

I had hired a DIFFERENT Tutor prior to hiring Anavi and wasn’t learning. Wow is all I have to say. Anavi was like a breath of fresh air! She explained concepts in a way I could understand. She totally customized my session for me and my learning style. She did this on the spot. I was super impressed with Anavi. She offered assistance after the class as well. I would HIGHLY recommend Anavi for all of your tutor needs.
