I am an incoming freshman at UCLA with a strong academic foundation built during my time at BASIS Phoenix, where I achieved a 4.8 GPA and completed advanced coursework in mathematics and physics. Beyond the classroom, I gained hands-on teaching experience as a classroom assistant in both history and physics, and founded Innovara, a student research initiative through which I mentored middle and high school students in developing their own research projects for the Arizona Science and Engineering Fair. Several of my mentees went on to win awards and advance to the national level, an experience that gave me a deep appreciation for what students can achieve with the right guidance. I also worked at Mathnasium, tutoring students across a wide range of skill levels, which sharpened my ability to meet each learner exactly where they are.
My teaching philosophy centers on genuine understanding over memorization. Rather than walking students through steps to replicate, I focus on building the conceptual foundation that makes those steps make sense. I break problems down carefully, draw on real-world examples to ground abstract ideas, and adjust my explanations based on how a student responds. A typical session moves through review, concept introduction, guided practice, and independent work, with continuous check-ins to ensure the material is landing and to shift approach when something isn't clicking.
I work with middle school and high school students across general academics, with a particular focus on math and physics. Whether a student is working to catch up, keep pace, or push ahead, my goal is the same: to help them build real confidence in the material and the skills to tackle problems on their own. I believe that with the right explanation and enough patience, any concept can be made approachable.
