I am a high school science teacher who specializes in helping students turn complex concepts into clear, understandable ideas. My teaching style focuses on breaking down difficult material using visuals, analogies, and relatable real-world examples so students can truly understand the “why” behind what they are learning rather than just memorizing information.
I earned my B.S. in Cell and Molecular Biology and Psychology from Tulane University and my Master of Arts in Teaching Secondary Science from the University of Indianapolis. Between my undergraduate and graduate studies, I worked in quality assurance at an ambulatory surgery center, where I collaborated with healthcare professionals and worked with clinical data. This experience strengthened my ability to analyze complex information and communicate it clearly.
I have taught and tutored students in a variety of settings, including AP Biology, Honors Biology, and college-level math remediation. While teaching AP Biology in Virginia, 91% of my 33 students scored a 3 or higher on the AP exam.
I have also worked as a college remediation tutor for veterans in calculus, helping seven students who had previously failed the course successfully pass their calculus requirement.
Currently, I teach Honors Biology and the AVID elective, working with students ages 14–18 in both classroom and small-group settings. In AVID, I help students develop effective note-taking, study strategies, communication skills, and self-advocacy to prepare them for college success.
My goal as a tutor is to help students build confidence, develop strong learning strategies, and leave each session understanding material that once felt overwhelming.
