I am a certified Special Education and Reading Specialist with over 20 years of classroom teaching experience working with students in Grades K-12. I hold state certifications in Arizona, Florida, and Georgia, and have extensive experience providing structured literacy instruction in both general education and special education settings. My background includes supporting students with IEPs, learning differences, and reading challenges through targeted, evidence-based intervention.

Throughout my career, I have taught in traditional classroom settings, small group instruction, and one-on-one intervention environments. My tutoring approach is structured and skill-focused, emphasizing active reading strategies, comprehension development, text structure, inferencing, vocabulary growth, and organized written responses. I use explicit instruction, modeling, guided practice, and progress monitoring to ensure measurable academic growth.

I specialize in virtual reading intervention and have experience supporting students who need individualized support outside the classroom. My goal is to build both literacy skills and student confidence through clear, structured instruction tailored to each learner’s needs.

Executive Functioning

Executive Functioning

I support students in developing strong executive functioning skills that help them stay organized, manage their time, and complete academic tasks more independently. Many students struggle with planning, prioritizing assignments, and keeping track of deadlines, which can affect their confidence and academic performance. In my sessions, I help students break large assignments into manageable steps, create structured plans for completing work, and develop strategies for staying organized. I also teach students how to use tools such as checklists, planners, and digital calendars to track assignments and responsibilities. My approach focuses on helping students strengthen skills such as time management, task initiation, organization, and self-monitoring. By building these habits, students learn how to approach their schoolwork with greater independence and confidence. My Special Education certifications and Exceptional Student Education degree, supports this expertise and approach.
