Hello, everyone! I’m Amatullah, a first-year medical student and UC Berkeley graduate with a double major in Molecular & Cellular Biology and Applied Mathematics. I scored a 526 (132/130/132/132) on the MCAT, and I’m here to help you understand the logic behind MCAT questions, build a strong content foundation, and develop strategic test-taking skills.
My teaching style is highly visual and process-oriented—I draw everything out with clear, comprehensive explanations and model the reasoning steps. I never assume background knowledge but instead meet you exactly where you are, whether that’s at the foundation or at an advanced level, and build your understanding until you can tackle any question independently. Before each session, you’re welcome to send over what you want to work on, and I’ll come prepared with a tailored plan. I also offer a free 30-minute trial lesson.
I’ve been teaching for the last 7 years, including 5+ years of college-level experience. At UC Berkeley, I was as a Math peer tutor for 1.5 year as well as a Graduate Student Instructor (GSI) for Organic Chemistry and Multivariable Calc, leading multiple 30-student discussion sections, delivering lectures, and holding weekly office hours. I was honored to receive the 2024 Outstanding GSI Award, and I’ve completed two years of pedagogy coursework focused on evidence-based teaching practices. I also have private tutored for Biochem and AP Chem for a year each.
Having recently been through the application process myself, I’m also happy to help you review your application and prepare for interviews.
Here’s a comment from one of my previous students (submitted anonymously in course evaluations):
"Every single week, this GSI was on time, enthusiastic, and ready to answer any and all questions. She always asked if we understood it enough, and slowed down if we needed. She always did all the extra work on the board, and never summarized, teaching us the thinking processes that we should follow." -- UC Berkeley Org Chem Student
