Hello, my name is Zoe! I coach speech and debate and I tutor English.
I was ranked the #1 Lincoln-Douglas debater in Arizona and top 20 in the country, and I have been coaching for over four years. I debated LD for four years. I competed at NSDA Nationals three times, championed 15 tournaments, and earned more than 30 top-three placements. I graduated with more merit points and more competitive placements than any debater in my school's history.
I have coached students across the United States and China. I served as Varsity LD Coach at Brophy College Preparatory, where two of the three total Lincoln-Douglas national qualifiers in Arizona that year came from my squad. I have also led the LD lab at the Southwest Speech and Debate Institute, coached LD at the Modus Ponens Institute, and worked as a private coach since 2022. My students have won locally and nationally, competing at the Tournament of Champions and NSDA Nationals, championing state, and reaching late elimination rounds at Loyola, Yale, Stanford, Meadows, Nano Nagle, Golden Desert, and UNLV.
Beyond coaching sessions, I offer research support: cutting cards, building block files, and preparing evidence and prewritten responses.
I also tutor English. I scored a 5 on both the AP English Literature and Composition and AP English Language and Composition exams, and a 35 on the English section of the ACT. I hold bachelor's degrees in English and Communication and a master's in Instructional Design and Technology (a fancy way of saying the science behind how people learn). I served as Editor-in-Chief of a literary magazine and worked professionally as an editor and writer at three publications. I help students with essay assignments and college application materials, and I give specific feedback on grammar, structure, and style.
