About Daniel

Bio

I'm Daniel, a current USMD MS4 applying for residency. I know how overwhelming STEP2 may seem especially when coupled with rotations during MS3 year and I am here to make it easier for you. Through MS3 year, I scored 75+ percentile on all my NBME shelf exams with multiple in the 90+ and ultimately 265+ on USMLE STEP 2CK.

I received my BS in biomedical engineering from a top-10 ranked program and graduated with honors. I worked as a TA for upper-level engineering courses so I have experience teaching advanced concepts/topics to students. As a result, I feel that I am very capable in being able to break down complex topics into more simple and digestible information.

Due to my engineering background, I believe in understanding the underlying concept as opposed to pure memorization. In relation to STEP2, this means going into the underlying pathophysiology and the why behind the question instead of just memorization, allowing for widespread application when taking the real exam. For instance, instead of just telling you to memorize that a certain disease is associated w/ x, y, and z conditions, I will also go into detail about this conditions. I also talk about differentials when seeing that particular type of patient presentation and ways to differentiate between common differentials based on clues. Lastly, I am also a strong believer in active learning. I love talking about anything related to medicine and thus, I love to constantly ask associated questions when teaching to ensure that you truly understand the concept.

In regards to STEP2, I have tutored others seeing scores increase 30+ from the initial CCSE to their official score. Whether you need help with rapid question dissection, NBME-style reasoning, or building an effective study schedule, I can guide you throughout the process. I am extremely flexible as to my tutoring style and can adapt to meet your needs/expectations. I look forward to working with y'all and hope to help you achieve the STEP2 score that you want.

I'm Daniel, a current USMD MS4 applying for residency. I passed STEP1 on the first attempt while scoring in the top 10% of my class on the CBSE. For STEP2 CK, I scored a 265+ and was able to score 75+ percentile on all my NBME shelf exams during MS3 year (75-93 percentiles). My background is in engineering and I have experience in tutoring other engineering students in complex topics related to math/physics as a TA. As a result, I feel that my strengths lie in breaking down complex topics into more simple and digestable information and going into the underlying pathophysiology and the why behind the question instead of focusing on pure memorization, allowing for more widespread application when taking STEP2. For example, instead of just telling you to memorize that x disease has this finding, I also talk about differentials when seeing that particular type of patient presentation and ways to differentiate between common differentials based on clues in the question stem. I am also a strong believer in active learning. I love to constantly ask associated questions when teaching to ensure that you truly understand the concept. Whether you need help with rapid question dissection, NBME-style reasoning, or building an effective study schedule, I can guide you step by step. As mentioned earlier, I have experience working with other students before, being a TA in undergrad as well as helping some of my classmates in shelf/STEP2 studying with noticeably improved results afterwards. I am extremely flexible as to my tutoring style and am extremely flexible to meet your needs/expectations. I look forward to working with y'all and hope to help you achieve the STEP2 score that you want.
