Hi there! My name is Rebecca Jean, though most students know me as Miss Jean. I’ve spent over 14 years teaching grades 2–5 in both California and Arizona, and I hold a BA in Liberal Studies/Education with a minor in Physical Education from California State University, Chico, along with multiple teaching credentials. Throughout my career, I’ve supported a wide range of learners and helped them not only strengthen their academic skills but truly enjoy the learning process. As an online tutor, I specialize in creating personalized, interactive lessons that make concepts meaningful and engaging. Whether I’m turning fractions into pizza parties or using students’ favorite interests to build reading and writing skills, I design instruction that meets each child where they are and helps them experience those “I get it” moments.

I believe children thrive when they feel capable, encouraged, and proud of their progress. My approach centers on building real connections, celebrating growth, and making learning feel positive and purposeful. I tailor every lesson to each child’s interests and learning style, transforming their favorite topics into opportunities for academic confidence and success. I also maintain open communication with families, offering clear updates and practical ideas to support learning at home.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy coaching youth cheerleading, learning Spanish, teaching dance and Zumba, baking, hiking, writing, traveling, and walking dogs. These experiences help me bring creativity, energy, and joy into every session.
