I am a current medical student who graduated university with Honors and a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences in the top 1% of my class. Prior to this, I earned my way into the Honors College with my 36 ACT score and my 1510 SAT score (800 Math). In high school, I was Salutatorian of my class graduating with a 5.92 weighted GPA and a 4.00 unweighted GPA, receiving 5's in AP Exams including Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Biology, Physics 2, and APES. I am a current medical student who graduated university with Honors and a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences in the top 1% of my class. I have primarily tutored Math and Science over the last 5 years, and believe in the student-led tutoring approach.

I oftentimes have students talk me through problems so that I can figure out exactly where they are losing sight of problems, and then breakdown how to approach the problems from there. I believe that hands on learning by the student is the most effective method of tutoring.

I have taught ages from 7 to 25, including special needs students, students with dyslexia, and have also tutored groups. Growing up as a good student and the child of an award-winning teacher, I understand the necessary methods for students to succeed in tutoring.

I have been tutoring SAT for 5 years and understand what it takes to improve scores, as well as how to focus on high yield question areas with students to make sure that they are prepared for the test themselves. Since the test was changed to a digital format, I have since retaken the test, again receiving a perfect score, and have mastered explaining to students how to use the built in calculator to answer every single algebra word problem on the test.

Evan taught me about pictographs, bar graphs, histograms, simple & compound interest formulas. I would highly recommend scheduling a tutoring session with him if you need Math assistance. He has a good sense of character for his role.

Exactly What Sutton Needed

Sutton was frustrated and shutting down with his PreAlgebra, and honestly my wife and I weren't much help either. From the first session, Evan completely turned that around. He broke everything down step by step with clear examples, and Sutton came away understanding how to find missing sides using basic algebra, work through word problems, and tackle composite shapes by breaking them into familiar pieces. That is a lot of ground to cover in one session. What stood out most was Evan's patience and ability to build confidence, not just cover material. Evan also followed up after the session with a Khan Academy link for additional practice, which showed he genuinely cares about the outcome, not just the hour. We are already planning future sessions and will be bringing our daughter into the mix as well. If your kid is stuck, frustrated, or just needs someone to slow down and actually explain the "why," Evan is your guy. Highly recommend.
