I'm Matt, a medical student and future psychiatrist who scored in the 93rd percentile on the MCAT after dropping out of high school, and I teach people how to succeed to the same degree no matter their background. My #1 strength isn't content mastery, though I've got chemistry, biology, physiology, and biostatistics down cold; it's giving people the tools to think like the teacher and the person who wrote the test.

As an undergraduate I participated in UC Berkeley’s Teacher Scholars program, where I designed interactive learning tools, led group sessions, and internalized the most effective ways to help students master material. That means I don't just tell you or your child what the answer is—I break down the pattern recognition, answer elimination strategies, and time management skills that enable people to absorb knowledge optimally long after they’ve stopped working with me.

My general approach is as follows:
→ Diagnostic breakdown of weak spots (not generic content review)
→ Active practice with real-time feedback (not passive lectures)
→ Study plans built around learning style and schedule (not one-size-fits-all, cookie-cutter plans)

Whether you're studying for a class or exam, applying to post-secondary school, or just a parent looking to help your child succeed, I'll meet you where you are. Let's build the score and the confidence you & they need to overcome any challenge.

Matthew is an excellent tutor

Matthew helped me through some very difficult CARS problems, making something that was very hard for me to understand seem very easy. Matthew will calmly and adeptly walk you through whatever topics you’re struggling with and simplify the answers in a way you will understand. I would give him more than 5 stars if I could.

Detailed Yet Intuitive, Comprehensive Yet Succinct

The title of this review is how my high school Sophomore daughter explained her first Chemistry Honors tutoring session with Matt. The library where we had planned to meet turned out to be closed, so a booth at a nearby Panera became their classroom. Matt is kind, flexible, easy going, and most importantly, an extremely knowledgeable tutor who understands how to deliver key concepts in clear, concise language and a delivery style that not only held my daughters attention, but seemed to elevate her focus and had her asking on the ride home when her next session could be. Legit 5 star experience- thank you Matt!
