Greetings! I am currently a high school dual enrollment English instructor for a school district in Arizona. I teach Composition 101 and 102 that is considered college freshman English. My past English teaching experience has been Honors English 10, 11, and 12, and regular English 11 and 12. I have, also, taught Advanced Placement Language and Composition and Advanced Placement Literature and Composition. From here, I have worked at the community college level teaching Freshman Composition and remedial reading. Before moving to the high school level, I taught at the elementary school level having taught predominately in the early childhood setting teaching children how to read and write along with their math skills. My degrees are in accounting and reading while I have 20 graduate level credits in English. I do hold two teaching certificates: a K-8 and a 6-12.
I am beginning my 26th year of teaching having taught all age levels in some fashion from preschool to college. My teaching experience has been a combination of in-person, hybrid, and online. My approach to teaching is to discover the learning style of the student and then to cater to that learning style. I, also, employ as many approaches as possible that encompass the multiple intelligences as these intelligences will complement the student’s learning style. From here, instruction is chunked and scaffolded in order to break down the information into smaller parts and where each part can build upon each other.
I am looking forward to working with you to the best of my ability and moving you towards success in your academic endeavors!
