While I grew up thinking I was MEANT to be an emergency medicine physician, I now find myself content with the fact I have never been--nor will I likely ever be--a practicing clinician. I have spent the past 17 years teaching and writing on the premedical and medical sciences, but I shirk the label of "subject matter expert" in any particular category as I have had the privilege of working with the PhD's, MD's, and DO's who dedicated their lives' work to one subject. Where I plant my flag--and will put my knowledge, experience, and credentials up against anyone--is as a standardized test preparation expert.

In addition to having taught/tutored 1,000+ students, I have been a contributing author/editor for over 30 test prep books, 15,000 questions, and 30,000 content slides. These materials have been used by hundreds of instructors to teach tens of thousands of students. Furthermore, I have led graduate-level research on the identification and replication of the testing patterns underlying major US premedical and medical standardized examinations, which I then used to train dozens of content developers.

Mastery in preparing students for a standardized exam is NOT the same as having mastery in preparing for a standardized exam. Don't be fooled into hyperfocusing on the test score of a potential tutor... they're not taking the exam for you. Where they started and the journey they took to get to that score may not be anything like your situation, so what worked for them won't necessarily work for you. Any decent tutor can clearly explain concepts and content to you. Make sure you are working with an *educator*: someone well-versed in ALL the learning methodologies and resources available to you, able to assist you in building and executing a study plan, and who can show you how to do things in a way that's replicable when you're not with them.

MCAT

MCAT

More than an MCAT tutor... I'm an MCAT subject matter and test preparation expert. I scored 99th percentile on my MCAT in 2006 and have worked in the test preparation industry ever since (minus a brief hiatus when I was completing my MD and starting a family). I led a team of graduate-level scientists on a deep-dive analysis of the MCAT for underlying patterns. I've taught and tutored likely over 1,000 students, but the materials I've written have reached 10's of thousands. Want to score the best? Then prep with the best.
USMLE

USMLE

I taught/tutored for the MCAT from 2007-2012, before attending the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix (May 2016 graduate). In addition to performing well on USMLE Step 1 and Step 2, I took multiple medication education electives and ran small-group sessions with MS1s and MS3s. I matched into the emergency medicine residency of my choice, but due to health issues I pivoted to a career in medical education. Before starting my own company, I was Senior Content Manager of Kaplan Medical, where I updated over 25,000 PowerPoint slides of Step 1 & Step 2 content for the video review series.

Knowledgeable and experienced tutor

Dr. Deason helped me with strategies for the physics and chemistry portion of the MCAT, and with making a schedule. He was very clear and helpful during the lesson!

An extremely talented tutor

I like Dr Brandon's exceptional test taking skills which was not taught in the classroom. Each point presented by Dr Brandon are crispy clear. Dr Brandon started his initial class by listening patiently to my concern of weakness points and discuss with me the way how to remedy weakness portions.
