Everyone learns differently. I realized in high school, years ago, that I learned best by helping others. I’ve continued this practice in my software development career by mentoring junior team members and recent college graduates. In post college classes, I volunteered tutored classmates. I’ve found that I really enjoy those moments when a student understands something that they didn't understand a minute before, particularly if the concept was a struggle. Software programming is challenging, and an emotional roller coaster, oscillating between frustration with not understanding and elation when the program works. I love that about programming.
I have 20 years of experience designing databases of all types (3NF, dimensional, generalize, data vault) and SQL development. I have worked as part of a team, lead teams, and mentored junior developers and recent college graduates.
I'm a lifelong learner, and enjoy new areas to explore. This gives me a perspective on what is helpful when teaching. Subject matter content is not all there is to teaching. If you are looking for a tutor who is patient and supportive, please give me a try.
