I'm Ryan! I graduated from ASU with a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and a Master's degree in Bionanotechnology. I love science and want every student to see how interesting and mind-blowing it can be. For years I have been finding creative ways to teach science outside of the classroom, including videos, graphics, and games. And I do it all for that moment when it clicks in a student's mind, and suddenly they can see the world around them a little more clearly. Chemistry is of particular interest as it can help you "see the invisible".
I currently am a professor at ASU, specializing in introductory and general chemistry courses (CHM101, CHM113, and CHM116) and have taught there for 7 years. This includes teaching in lectures, labs, and recitations. I also previously taught junior high chemistry to 7th-9th graders. I've taught in front of 100's of students in a lecture hall and small groups during office hours, and I've learned that the times I really enjoy teaching are the one-on-one interactions I get with students. That's why I tutor chemistry on the side- it's a guaranteed chance to make a direct impact in a student's education.
