Hi! I’m Lydia G., a dedicated tutor and 4.0 student currently pursuing my degree in Physics with a focus on Astrophysics. My journey with math and science started early. I was winning statewide math competitions as a child and became a professional software developer by age 17. Today, I am an active researcher in the field of astrophysics with two original research papers. I recently received the "Excellent Communication Award" at an undergraduate research symposium for my ability to explain complex cosmic phenomena to a panel of biologists. This is exactly what I bring to our tutoring sessions: the ability to take the most intimidating concepts in Calculus, Physics, or any other STEM subject, and make them crystal clear.

I have extensive experience working with students ranging from kindergarten through the college level. Whether I am helping a young student build a foundation in prealgebra or guiding a college peer through the rigors of physical science and advanced mathematics, my approach is centered on "complete mastery." I utilize a specialized checklist system for every session; we identify your specific pain points, and we only check them off once you can confidently explain the concept back to me in your own words. This method not only improve grades, but it builds the deep, fundamental confidence needed for long-term academic success.

Beyond my technical background, I was one of only 10 students invited to the Arizona Space Rock Camp at the University of Arizona’s Lunar and Planetary Laboratory. This passion for the discovery of knowledge is what I aim to share with every student I meet. I am highly flexible in my teaching style and always adapt to how you learn best. I offer a free initial consultation to discuss your goals and ensure we are a perfect match. Feel free to reach out with any questions. I look forward to helping you reach that "aha!" moment and hitting your academic goals!

Approved Subjects

Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I have a deep understanding of Algebra 2 concepts, including quadratic functions, logarithms, systems of equations, and complex numbers, built through years of high-level mathematical application in physics and astrophysics research. My experience involves using these foundational principles to solve complex problems daily. I focus on helping students move past rote memorization to develop a genuine conceptual understanding, which is essential for success in higher-level math and science courses.
AMC (Competition math)

AMC (Competition math)

As a former statewide mathematics competition winner and a current calculus & astrophysics researcher with a perfect 4.0 GPA, I offer a unique, high-level perspective on competitive problem-solving. I specialize in breaking down the complex logic and creative strategies required for the AMC, drawing on my background as a professional software developer and award-winning communicator. My teaching method ensures that students don't just memorize formulas but master the underlying principles needed to tackle non-standard problems with confidence. I am dedicated to helping students develop the same passion for mathematics that led me to become a professional software developer at 17, an award-winning astrophysicist, and represent Arizona at the Lunar and Planetary Laboratory’s prestigious meteoroid analysis camp.
