Certified Math Teacher with 25+ Years of Experience

Hello! I love math and I love kids! I am a certified math teacher for grades 6-12. I recently exited the classroom to tutor full time. I have over 25 years of experience teaching such math subjects as: Basic Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra I & II, Honors Algebra, Geometry and Pre-Calculus. In addition to teaching in the classroom, I have tutored my own children, nieces, nephews and neighborhood children. I have also tutored middle/high school and college students online.

I get excited when my students experience that light-bulb moment. I’m able to build my students’ confidence by breaking down complex math problems into simple, relatable steps. I teach my students that they might make mistakes along the way, but that is okay. Mistakes are a part of the learning process! Also, math is kind of like a sport. You get better at it with practice, especially with a good coach at your side. I not only teach my students “how” to work out math problems, but I teach them “why” we do it. My goal is to not only help students master math concepts, but to also inspire them to discover how math is utilized in the world around them.

I worked in a materials research lab before I found my true passion for teaching and helping young people reach their full potential. I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Bioengineering from Arizona State University. As part of my degree program, I completed the following math classes: Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, Calculus I, II and III, Probability and Statistics.
