Hi there! Back in 2021, I took the NREMT for the first time and became a certified EMT. From there, I continued my education and graduated on the President’s Honors List from Glendale Community College with my Associate’s of Science. I then completed my bachelor’s degree in Physiology and Medical Sciences at the University of Arizona, where I graduated magna cum laude.
I have worked as an event EMT and volunteered in mobile medical clinics, but it was through working full-time as an EMT that I was able to apply and strengthen my foundation in physiology. Understanding the mechanisms behind a patient’s symptoms and why certain interventions are contraindicated has allowed me to think quickly and build confidence in my patient care. I have worked on BLS, ALS, and critical-care transport crews and learned the different roles and responsibilities of an EMT in each setting. I have also gained experience with both interfacility and 911 transports, each of which has presented its own unique challenges.
I started my tutoring journey in high school, where I helped underclassmen build foundational skills in French. I continued tutoring through college, focusing my efforts as a TA for upper-division physiology courses and helping students develop a stronger understanding of complex concepts.
Through my experience as both a tutor and a student, I approach each session by first understanding the “why” behind what a student is learning. By breaking down subjects into manageable pieces and then building toward mastery, I tailor each session to the student’s individual needs and goals. I strive to help students reach a level of comfort and confidence with the material where they not only pass their exams, but can also build upon their knowledge and apply what they have learned in the future.
