UC Berkeley Grad — SAT English Expert — 15 Years Experience

Michael F.

Hi, I'm Michael!

About Me

I graduated from UC Berkeley with a B.A. in English and started my career as a certified classroom teacher before transitioning to full-time tutoring. Over the past 15 years, I’ve helped students around the world build confidence and reach their target scores, logging more than 5,000 hours of 1-on-1 coaching in the last five years alone.

My Philosophy

Standardized tests are primarily an exercise in pattern recognition, and SAT Reading & Writing is no exception. I teach students to pinpoint exactly what every question is asking, deeply comprehend what they’ve read, predict the correct answer with confidence, and back it up with concrete textual evidence.

My Lessons

My SAT Reading & Writing sessions follow a structured, high-retention framework designed for test-day success. We start by reviewing core strategies and working through targeted exercises together in order to address specific growth areas. Then, students apply what they’ve learned on their own, building the endurance and self-reliance needed for official exam conditions. Finally, we break down the independent work together. If helpful, I assign targeted homework to keep skills sharp between sessions, and for long-term students, I strategically schedule full-length practice tests to track progress over time.

If this approach aligns with what you're looking for, feel free to reach out. I’d be happy to discuss your student's goals and schedule an initial session.
