I have been a high school teacher since 1998. I thoroughly enjoy teaching high school science and mathematics. I have taught the following courses: Algebra I and II, Geometry, Physical Science, and Chemistry. Teaching is both an art and a science. I enjoy it when students learn how to learn and especially when that learning leads to a desire to continue learning.

Doug helped my son with his current chemistry unit. Prior to the tutoring, my son wasn't even sure where to start with balancing a chemistry equation. Throughout the tutoring session, I heard comments from my son, such as, "that makes sense" and "I didn't know that at all". He seemed to catch on very quickly. I was very pleased with his progress after only one session. I plan to continue utilizing Doug's tutoring services in the future.
Doug was extremely knowledgable on the subject of Chemistry. He was efficient, personable, and taught me a lot. Doug is coming again to prepare for final exams.
Doug met with my 7th grader to assess the reason he was doing poorly on his math tests. They talked over the different kinds of problems and why he was getting certain problems wrong and will now be meeting for the next few weeks to go over showing his work better. My son liked the way Doug worked with him.
Douglas made my son very comfortable and gave him confidence that he needed. Validated that he knew what he was doing with his current math and helped him review and old subject. My son was very excited to show his math teacher the next day. Looking forward to our next session.
Douglas is very patient and helpful. He is great with helping my daughter understand the content and making her feel confident.
Douglas was patient and understanding. Alot of discussion to help with my assignments so I figure out what I did wrong. Thank you!
Doug helps prepare for my Chemistry class this upcoming year. He goes through every topic, has ready practice problems, explains everything step by step and why the answer is correct in a way that is easy to understand
Thank you for the opportunity. I count it a privilege.
Doug is a very patient and positive tutor who has an excellent grasp of the physical sciences. We appreciate the fact that Doug is a subject matter expert and a teacher. He is helping our child prepare for cumulative exams in Chemistry. He responds quickly to our messages and is a pleasure to work with. We look forward to further sessions!
Thank you for your kind works. Your son is a pleasure to work with. He really enjoys learning! What a treat!
Douglas is so kind and patient. He is extremely knowledgeable about chemistry and is just what my daughter needed in terms of getting back on track with her high school chemistry course. She has gone up a whole grade in just three sessions! So grateful for this great tutor!
Thank you for your gracious words. I appreciate it. I am well pleased that your daughter's grades have improved. That makes it worth it. :)
Patient and uses examples kids can relate to. I have 2 kids he helps and he modifies approach to fit each student's learning style. After going over study guide, homework or review, he gives them quick example problems to make sure they can execute theory into practice. He is a current High School teacher so he is actively involved in the subjects he tutors. My kids need help with Algebra, chemistry and physics; I love that Doug is a one-man band and can do it all. Great job Doug, thank you!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have almost 20 years experience. I have a master's in education.
