I am currently a high school honors chemistry teacher and have previously taught high school chemistry for four years. Additionally, I have taught biology and environmental science. My experience also includes four years as a teacher of 8th grade General Science, 9th Grade Physical Science, and high school Biology. The degree requirements for a Master of Arts in biology, require a significant number hours in chemistry. Chemistry was my minor in Missouri State University's undergraduate bachelors program. Therefore, I obtained sufficient hours in chemistry to be certified to teach high school chemistry under the laws of the state of Missouri. Upon moving to Arizona, I sat for the 3-hour national NES test for national chemistry certification and I am currently certified, and an active chemistry teacher in the state of Arizona. I have found that I enjoy teaching chemistry far more than biology because it is such an elegant, quantitative science.
I encourage anyone to contact me who wishes to know more about chemistry and become more proficient in understanding chemistry concepts, using scientific data to reason to a proper conclusion, or become proficient in calculating chemistry equations. I will patiently work with students until they have achieved complete success in chemistry.
I have often worked with honor students who seek additional tutoring in hopes of being at the top of their class. I have found this experience gratifying and it has been a great joy to see the thirst for knowledge and the drive to achieve.
