I have more than 16 years of teaching and tutoring experience with students from elementary school through high school, as well as adult learners. I am TESOL-certified and currently in the accelerated Master's program in Communication at Arizona State University. I specialize in English Language Arts, including reading comprehension, writing, grammar, and vocabulary. I also help students prepare for the ACT, ACCUPLACER, ISEE, and other entrance and placement exams. I have extensive experience with ESL students, helping children and adults improve their English for school, work, and everyday communication.

My tutoring approach is patient, flexible, and individualized. I am very perceptive of how a student is feeling and can usually tell when something isn't clicking, even if they don't say it. When that happens, I adjust my approach and find another way to explain it. My goal is to help students understand why an answer is correct and become more confident working independently. I also speak Spanish and conversational Mandarin Chinese, which helps me work comfortably with students from many different backgrounds.

My daughter was hesitant to start online tutoring but was immediately drawn in by Adrian's calm, sweet demeanor. He kept her on task in a friendly way and is very skilled and knowledgeable as a reading grammar tutor. She was asking later in the day to do it again!! Highly recommend!!
