I am a certified K–8 classroom teacher in Arizona with 30 years of experience in both general education and special education at the elementary level. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in General Studies from Indiana University Bloomington and a Master’s degree in Special Education from California State University, Fullerton. Throughout my career, I have worked with a wide range of learners, including students with diverse learning needs and English language learners, which has strengthened my ability to differentiate instruction and provide targeted support.

In addition to my classroom experience, I have provided tutoring for the past three years in both in-person and online settings. I have worked one-on-one with elementary students across reading, writing, and math, using structured, research-based approaches. I incorporate digital learning tools along with evidence-based programs such as UFLI to support foundational reading skills, as well as targeted writing strategies to build confidence and independence. My approach emphasizes clear modeling, guided practice, and gradual release so students can successfully apply new skills on their own.

I typically meet with students for one hour sessions, which can be divided into two 30-minute segments to address multiple subject areas, or focused on one area for deeper instruction. Each session begins with a warm-up to review previously learned skills, followed by focused instruction and guided practice. My goal is to create a supportive and structured learning environment where students feel confident, engaged, and successful as they build their academic skills.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have 30 years of experience teaching in public education across grades K–8 as a general education teacher, special education teacher, and specialist. I have worked extensively with students with moderate and severe disabilities, as well as in resource settings supporting math, reading, and writing development. I also hold an English Language certification and teach English Language Development to students across all K–8 grade levels. In addition to my classroom experience, I have provided tutoring for the past two years during the spring and summer, supporting students in both in-person and online settings.
Study Skills

Study Skills

I bring over 30 years of experience as a certificated K–8 public school teacher, with a strong focus on helping students develop effective study skills that support long-term academic success. Throughout my career, I have worked with students across all grade levels to build organization, time management, task completion, and independent learning habits. My experience includes supporting students in general education as well as those in special education resource settings, where explicit instruction in study strategies, executive functioning, and assignment management is essential. In my current role as an English Language Specialist, I also help students develop structured approaches to learning, including note-taking, breaking down complex tasks, and building academic confidence. I specialize in teaching students how to stay on top of assignments, manage their workload, and develop consistent study routines tailored to their individual learning styles. My goal is not only to support students with their current coursework, but also to equip them with the tools and strategies they need to become independent, successful learners.
