Hi, I’m Eric. I help middle school and high school students go from “I hate math” to “okay…this actually makes sense.”
I have a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley and spent over a decade at Hewlett-Packard as a Technical Sales Representative, working with engineers, technical specs, and a lot of real-world math. I’m also an Arizona certified teacher and have taught high school physics (Fall 2023) and AP Government (Spring 2023) at Higley High School, along with college courses as an adjunct professor.
That mix of engineering plus classroom teaching means I’m good at both doing the math and explaining it in clear, step-by-step ways.
This is how I work with students: I start by figuring out what’s actually confusing (not just the last homework); I explain things slowly, clearly, and without judgment; We practice together until your student can do it independently and confidently; I teach students to show their work, check their answers, and spot mistakes; I connect math to real-life examples from engineering and physics so it stops feeling random.
I’ve worked with anxious, discouraged, and “I’m just not a math person” students, as well as strong students who want to push ahead and firm up foundations for college. I’m calm, patient, and honest with kids, and I take their confidence just as seriously as their grades.
