Experienced and Excellent Educator: Tutor For Hire

I am an educator with more than thirty years of teaching experience. Most of my teaching experience is at the university or community college level, but I have also taught workshops and courses for young people, including children. My areas of teaching expertise are diverse and interconnected. My focus is upon environmental studies, but I can also teach and tutor in writing/reading/literature; botany; history; and Native American Studies.

Botany, or the relationships between plants and people, is one of my passions. I have been a working gardener and beekeeper for more than thirty years, and I also studied botany as a doctoral student in American Studies at the University of New Mexico. Much of my knowledge of plants is practical and hands-on. I have nearly twenty years of experience working as a gardener and horticulturist here in the Southwest.

I am an outstanding English and writing tutor because I have learned how to work with others to improve their communication skills. I work with other writers to help them find their own distinct voice in writing while also teaching them the conventions of standard written English. The goal of writing is maximum clarity. I teach writers how to make the most of their speaking, reading, and writing skills. These skills are interwoven.

I'm a "honeybeeteacher" with years of teaching experience in several different subjects, including history, English, and environmental studies. I also have a great deal of experience in teaching students of diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds. I grew up in Latin America and read, speak, and write Spanish semi-fluently. I also have some fluency in the Navajo language.
