Hi, I'm Jessica. I'm an English teacher and tutor with over 6 years of experience teaching basic college-level writing as well as courses for adults learning English. Thanks for considering me to be your tutor!

Hi, I'm Jessica. I'm an English teacher and tutor with over 6 years of experience teaching basic college-level writing as well as courses for adults learning English. Thanks for considering me to be your tutor!
I'm an English lover by nature (so much so that I studied the subject through the completion of a Master's degree), but I know that not everyone takes as naturally to reading, writing, and grammar as I did. I believe there's no shame in getting a little bit of help no matter where you are on the spectrum of understanding and ability. Maybe you're struggling and need extra help to catch up or gain a better understanding. Maybe you're a bit ahead of your class and hoping to get some more one-on-one attention. As a college writing teacher and tutor, I worked with students of all different ability levels to help them achieve their writing goals, and I'm confident I can help you with yours.
In addition to teaching English rhetoric and composition courses (mostly to incoming freshmen) at the university level, I have worked with English Language Learners from kindergarten-age all the way into adulthood and hold a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certificate. If English is not your first language, the challenges you face are a little different than the ones native speakers deal with. I have plenty of experience working with adult English Language Learners both one-on-one and in classrooms settings. I am happy to help you work on whatever language goals you have in mind.
I prefer to work with students online, but if you're local to my area, I'd be happy to meet in a public setting like a library or a coffee shop. Let me know if you'd like to chat more to determine if I'm a good fit for your needs or if you're ready to schedule your first tutoring session with me. I'm looking forward to meeting you!
