Hello;

I'll be straight the point. I taught piano for 4 years live. Now I"m doing online, and I'm new to it.
You have to buy a special book Alfred's Basic Piano Adult Course. I'll let you try me out, and throw in a few pages from the book. Piano is a long road. It will be fun, boring, and great. You have to be patient. 12/3/24

Music History

Music History

I took Music 101 or Musical Appreciation at Golden West College and got an A in the course. I use the same textbook to teach my students; as it is excellent! I also have an amazing CD collection that goes with the book. This course is a MUST for musicians. It will inspire you and keep your passion BURNING for music and your instrument. I look forward to being your tutor/instructor.
Music Theory

Music Theory

I spent approximately three years in music theory classes at Golden West College. I have been reading music since 1995. Let me help you become musically literate. Without a thorough knowledge of Music Theory you will find it impossible to read, write, or understand music. And if you want to play the classics or compose music, you will be lost. Basics of Music Theory include reading a treble clef, reading a bass clef, and knowing what a time signature is. Further, you will learn about the Major Scales and the Relative Minor Scales via the The Circle of Fifths. Musical Theory is basically the underlying logic or structure of music. Many find it boring, but it is actually extremely enlightening and helps one become a better musician. Music is a Language. Please let me help you learn the Musical Language. I will be your Music Grammar Instructor.
Piano

Piano

I learned piano in 1995-1997 at Fountain Valley Music School. I had a private instructor and progressed from level 1 to level 3 intermediate. From 1997-2011 I have played Classical Piano and progressed to level 5 intermediate. From 2008-2010 I took Music Theory, and Music History Courses. I took Music Theory 115 Basic Music, Music Theory 116, and Music 101 Music Appreciation at Golden West College. One personal project includes a complete synthesizer album that I created in 2002 called "The Galactic Crusader." Piano is my chief subject that I teach on WyzAnt. I give it about 99.9% of my focus. Whether you are an absolute beginner, a level 1, level 2, or level 3 piano player I can help reignite your passion for the instrument. You must have a passion for piano to even be eligible to be my student. I am affordable, reliable, and as long as you have a commitment to play the piano for 30 minutes weekly; then you are eligible to being an amazing piano student that can progress further and further. The key to the piano is playing music at your particular level of piano skill. If you play too high you will get frustrated and think it is impossible; if you play to low you will find it too easy and boring. You must play at your own level, and at times challenge yourself with more difficult compositions. Students below level 5 should focus on playing music that is fun; with lots of variety. I, as your teacher, will find your level, I will select the best musical selections for your skill level, and I will work to improve your skills further so you can play at a higher level.

Patient and motivating

Steven has been teaching my daughters piano for couple years now. He is very patient and knows how to handle my girls (Age 7 & 8) because at their young age it is difficult to concentrate sometimes. He also been creative in his teaching method by brings difference material to motivate them to learn. I even referred a couple of my friends to him and they like his teaching. So if you are looking for a piano teacher, I would highly recommend giving Steven a try.

Fantastic Piano Tutor

Steve is a fantastic piano tutor for my twelve year old son Nathan. The pressure of learning piano from different schools in the past was preventing my son from enjoying the beauty of music. In finding Steve we found a person Nathan can not only relate to but learn from in a no pressure environment. Steve is easy going but articulate. He is sensitive to my son’s learning style and he facilitates that style. They both communicate well and are friends. My son and I appreciate Steve’s ability to share music in a gentle but dynamic way.
