Hello! I recently graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in General Studies, with an emphasis in Education and Christian Studies. My academic background has provided me with a strong foundation in instructional strategies, child development, and effective communication, all of which inform the way I tutor today. During college, I worked as an online tutor for other college students, primarily supporting entry-level math and writing courses. This experience helped me develop clear explanations, patience, and the ability to adapt my teaching to different learning styles, especially in virtual settings.
Last year, I worked as a full-time tutor, supporting elementary and middle school students in both one-on-one and small-group settings. I focused on math, reading, and writing, helping students strengthen foundational skills while also building confidence and independence. Both last year and this year, I have taught academic support classes designed for students with learning differences and academic disabilities, with the goal of helping them stay on track with their peers. In these roles, I learned the importance of breaking concepts into manageable steps, using consistent routines, and reinforcing progress through encouragement and positive feedback.
Currently, I teach 7th and 8th-grade literature classes, where I help students improve comprehension, writing skills, and critical thinking. In addition, this past summer, I provided one-on-one tutoring to two fourth-grade students who were working to reach a fifth-grade level. Through targeted instruction, practice, and individualized support, both students successfully progressed into fifth grade. As a tutor, I strive to create a supportive and structured learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing academically. I am passionate about helping students understand the “why” behind what they are learning and empowering them to succeed both in and out of the classroom.
