I believe that a good tutor gets to know their student and understands what THEIR problems are and attends to them instead of just trying to hammer all the concepts into their head. In my experience, even the most abstract mathematical or scientific concepts can be learned by anyone, you just need to understand what they are doing and why. I think my two main strengths as a tutor are my ability to impart this understanding using visual aids and analogies, and my ability to break down complex problems to simple and easy ones. I am great at organizing problems in a way that makes them become easy, and I can teach you how to do it too. Please contact me if you need help understanding your math or science class!

Anatomy

Anatomy

I have taught anatomy, neuroanatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, kinesiology, and other related topics to high school students up through medical students. In medical school, I completed a total of 30 credit hours in anatomy. During my final two years, I was an anatomy TA, including one year as lead TA. My expertise is condensing the information and helping my students understand what it all means and why it is important. I have clinical experience so I can share real-life examples. I also teach effective learning skills so hopefully you won't need a tutor for long!
Calculus

Calculus

In my many years studying math, I have found that mathematics is just a foreign language. No wonder so many students feel completely lost - they don't understand the language! Imagine taking a class on a subject you love but in a language you don't speak. Would you do well? Would you have fun? I doubt it! I'll help you understand math, what you're doing and why, what the equations are saying, etc. When students start to understand the language, they sometimes realize they're actually not bad at math. Sometimes.... they even start to enjoy math.
Nutrition

Nutrition

I have hands-on and classroom experience in the field of nutrition. In medical school, I took 20 credit hours of nutrition in medical school. I utilize the nutrition from foods, supplements, and herbs for my patients. I've also been teaching sports nutrition and nutrition biochemistry for several years.
Physics

Physics

I have been tutoring students in physics for over 15 years. I got my BS in Physics from SUNY Stonybrook, which included time as a TA in the helproom. I was also inducted into the National Physics Honors Society, Sigma Pi Sigma, for my academic performance. I make Physics problems easy to understand and to solve.
Physiology

Physiology

I have taught anatomy, neuroanatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, kinesiology, and other related topics to high school students up through medical students. In medical school, I completed a total of 15 credits hours of physiology and 12 credit hours in pathophysiology. My expertise is condensing the information and helping my students understand what it all means and why it is important. I have clinical experience so I can share real-life examples. Lastly, I also teach effective learning skills so hopefully you won't need a tutor for long!
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

I have given many speeches and am a member of Toastmasters, a national public speaking group. I am also a teacher, so basically I spend a lot of time in front of groups. I will teach you how to incorporate tools of effective public speaking, such as using vocal variety, appropriate gestures, and story telling. More importantly, I will help you communicate your message in a way that is not just technically correct, but impactful and inspiring.

Dr. Kelly is an amazing tutor!

I'm a sophomore at ASU who was struggling to pass any of my tests for Physics 111. I only had two sessions with Dr. Kelly and received an 100% on my recent test! I went from completely failing all of my tests to acing one in just two sessions. I liked the way he broke down a simple process to help me approach each problem the same way so I didn't feel the anxiety of approaching a new problem! Even though I had never previously taken physics courses, he was able to relate the problems to situations that made sense to me while also giving me easy tips and tricks to remember for the future. He was able to visually and conceptually explain problems and tailored his tutoring to the skill set that I had. I am very happy and would definitely recommend giving him a try!

Understands the nuances of what the student needs

Dr Kelly is a patient and effective tutor. He quickly identifies knowledge gaps, addresses them with thorough and easy to understand explanations, and leaves my daughter feeling confident in her mastery at the end of each session. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Outstanding Calculus Teacher

Kelly is hands down one of the best tutors I’ve ever worked with. He helped me pass my calculus class and score a 90% on the final, which I couldn’t have done without his support. He explains difficult concepts clearly, is incredibly patient, and makes sure you actually understand the material. He also has been helping me get through a business calculus class, always showing up prepared and ready to help. If you need a tutor for any calculus class, I highly recommend Kelly—he made a huge difference in my academic success.

Great Help for Medical School Anatomy and Neuroanatomy

Kelly has been incredibly helpful in guiding me through medical school anatomy and neuroanatomy. His strong knowledge of anatomical structures and ability to break down complex material made our sessions clear and effective. I appreciated his organized approach and the added benefit of recording our sessions, which made it easy to review key points when I needed to refer back. Thanks to Kelly’s help, I felt more confident and saw real improvement in my understanding and performance in both courses. I’m grateful for his support and look forward to continuing to work with him!

Amazing and Helpful Physics Tutor

I just completed college level Physics 1 last semester and I would not have made it through without Kelly. He is very detailed in explanations of problems and does a great job at teaching in the midst of doing examples. I really appreciated the fact that once I had a better understanding of the concept, he would have me lead problems until I needed guidance. I failed multiple exams before receiving his tutoring. I was able to attain an A- in the class because of the way I did on the final which collectively represented all of Kelly's help. Now that second semester has started I have continued using Kelly for tutoring and I just received an A on my first Physics 2 quiz. I was a whopping 27% above the class average. I could not have done this without Kelly's help and patience explaining the practice tests. I 10/10 recommend using Kelly as a tutor! He is truly the best!

Amazing

My first lesson, was amazing. He stopped, when i asked questions and we discussed ways to remember items. Workin on my NP, i needed guidance and reassurance taking advanced patho online, without really live instruction. I have booked another 4 lessons, to assist with my first exam and look forward to studying concepts that are difficult

Knowledgable and patient tutor

Kelly was really great at breaking things down for neuroanatomy and telling me the bigger concepts to know for tests, even with limited power point information and notes from my professors.
