I graduated first in my college at Texas Tech University. After a master's at Iowa State and PhD at Texas Tech, I was prepared to take on the world and landed a post-doctoral program at SUNY-ESF-Syracuse. My experiences taught me a great deal, but my education was just to begin. The next 14 years I worked as a GIS Consultant. I still work in the GIS and IT world managing IT projects for a State of Arizona Department. I employ geospatial sciences, analytics, statistics, zoology, biology, math...

I employ geospatial sciences, analytics, statistics, zoology, biology, math and a great deal of common sense daily. I taught at the collegiate and post-grad level at four institutions, Including the renowned University of Redlands School of Business. I am a published writer and assist my students in becoming not only better statisticians, analysts/technicians, biologists, analysts, and zoologists, but also writers. Communications skills are AT LEAST as important as an education in preparing for success both inside and outside of the classroom.

I have studied at the feet of pioneers in statistics including W.H. Conover (nonparametric statistics) and in pioneering institutions of statistics such as Iowa State University. More importantly, I tutored my own daughter to successfully pass her statistics courses in her behavioral sciences program. I have a keen ability to make the abstract plain and understandable...and the patience of Job.

40 years as a student, educator, practitioner, and author in the field of Wildlife Biology (which embraces and utilizes fully all three of these disciplines) makes me well-grounded to assist students through any biological course. My experience spans both the classroom and natural environments.

Contact me. You will note that my fee is low not because of quality, but because I love teaching and I remember how difficult it can be to find help. Let's get this done, done right, and have a little fun in the process!

Approved Subjects

Biology

Biology

I have biology, botany, zoology, and anatomy experience focused mainly on the larger terrestrial organisms of the natural world.
Ecology

Ecology

BS Degree in Wildlife Management served as a solid foundation to a Master's in Animal Ecology that involved studying the ecology of Guanacos in the Chilean Patagonia. Following my MS, I completed a Mule Deer ecology project as part of my PhD in Wildlife Science. My final educational endeavor involved studying the ecological impacts of white-tailed deer herbivory on hardwood forests in Pennsylvania. Since my education, I have enjoyed teaching almost every year in the past 30 years, with classes ranging from general surveys of biology, field investigations, and conservation biology.
GIS

GIS

I have worked in the GIS industry in analytical, senior, and management positions for the past 20+ years. I am proficient in the use of Desktop GIS tools (ArcGIS, ArcGIS Desktop), Web GIS tools (ArcGIS Online), and in the configuration and development of many applications in the Esri GIS ecosystem (Collector, Survey123, Interoperability, Statistical Analyst, Drone2Map, Community and Business Analyst, and ArcGIS Server. Finally, for the past 4 years, I have managed a team and worked to support close to 100 users of GIS at Arizona Game and Fish Department and answer questions about how to do GIS for analytics, data management, etc. on a daily basis.
Statistics

Statistics

I have used statistics in my masters and doctoral programs, and taken enough classes (within three credit hours) of having enough statistics to have minored in such. I have performed statistical analysis for several co-authors on papers in which our analyses factored as a major part of the methodology. I have tutored family members in statistics and helped them understand what was going on there. I have recently agreed to perform the statistical analyses for another collaboration involving a book chapter on the ecology of Guanacos in South America.
Zoology

Zoology

I have studied, published, and worked in areas supported by zoology (biology, wildlife biology, comparative anatomy) in my education from 1980-1997, winning a number of scholarships and Summa Cum Laude honors along the way. I work in a field (conservation and wildlife management) that draws upon zoological principles and keeps me relatively current in the literature.
