Hi, I’m Preston — a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) currently working in transportation engineering for the State of Arizona. I graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, and I tutor students in civil engineering coursework, FE/PE exam prep, and general math and engineering topics from algebra through calculus.

I know firsthand how challenging these subjects can be — I had to take both the FE and PE exams twice before passing — so I understand where students get stuck and how frustrating it can feel. Every student learns differently, and I focus on listening, adapting, and meeting each person where they are rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.

Rather than just handing over slides or notes, I believe in having students work through problems themselves with my guidance, since that’s how concepts actually stick. I lean heavily on practice tests, real problem sets, and guided walkthroughs where the student does the writing and solving.

I’ve tutored high schoolers in various math subjects and helped college graduates prepare for their FE and PE licensing exams. I prefer online sessions but can meet in person at specified locations or a student’s home depending on the area. Reach out anytime with questions — I’d love to help you reach your goals and grow your engineering and math skills!

Civil Engineering

Civil Engineering

I am a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Arizona, having earned my Engineer in Training certification in 2023 and my full PE license in 2026 after passing the Civil Engineering exam. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Northern Arizona University, an ABET-accredited program, where I built a strong foundation in structural analysis, transportation design, hydraulics, and statics. I currently work as a Project Designer and Transportation Specialist at the Arizona Department of Transportation, applying core civil engineering principles daily to real infrastructure projects, including roadway design and traffic analysis. Because I’ve both studied and practiced this material professionally, I can break down complex civil engineering concepts from mechanics of materials to transportation planning into clear, practical explanations for students at any grade level.
Thermodynamics

Thermodynamics

I earned my Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Northern Arizona University, an ABET-accredited program, where I completed both Thermodynamics 1 and 2 as part of my core coursework, graduating in 2021. I am also a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Arizona, having passed my Engineer in Training exam in 2023 and earned my full PE license in 2026, which required a strong command of fundamental engineering sciences including thermodynamics. Through my coursework I studied energy transfer, entropy, heat engines, and the laws of thermodynamics in depth, and I’ve continued applying related principles throughout my engineering career. I can clearly explain these concepts to students by connecting them to real-world engineering applications, making abstract theory easier to grasp and retain.

PE Transportation

Preston is very knowledgeable in transportation engineering! He has you walk him through the problem, and if you get stuck, he will explain how to do it in detail. He's patient, and asks questions to keep you thinking. He set up a schedule for me as well. He's very kind and you can tell that he cares about your success.
