Hello! My name is Rebekah, and I am a Registered Nurse (RN), Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) with 29 years of healthcare experience.

Throughout my nursing career, I have worked in postpartum care, lactation consulting, psychiatric nursing (including detoxification, severe mental illness, and pediatric behavioral health), pediatric home care, and pediatric telehealth triage. I have also worked as an online high school instructor teaching Nursing Assistant, Pharmacology, and Medical Terminology courses.

In addition to my healthcare background, I have experience teaching elementary and middle school students in Physical Education and Spanish. I have taught English as a Second Language (ESL) to both children and adults in the United States, El Salvador, and Guatemala through classroom, small-group, and one-on-one instruction.

I enjoy helping students build confidence by breaking complex topics into manageable, easy-to-understand concepts. My tutoring approach is patient, supportive, and individualized to each student's learning style. Whether a student needs help mastering nursing concepts, understanding medical terminology, improving math skills, preparing for a nursing assistant course, or developing effective study strategies, I work to create a positive and encouraging learning environment.

As a mother of three children with ADHD and two children with Autism, I have extensive personal experience adapting teaching methods for neurodiverse learners. I understand that every student learns differently and strive to provide instruction that is engaging, flexible, and tailored to each individual's strengths and needs.

I look forward to helping students achieve their academic goals and gain confidence in their abilities.

Cooking

Cooking

I have more than 35 years of cooking and baking experience and began preparing meals for my family at a young age. By age 10, I was responsible for baking pies for family holiday gatherings, and by age 12 I was regularly preparing dinners for my family of eight. I also created my own cookbook as a child and have continued developing recipes and cooking skills throughout adulthood. As a teenager, I worked professionally in cake decorating and developed skills in cake design, frosting techniques, and specialty baking. While I now primarily decorate cakes for family celebrations and special occasions, I continue to enjoy baking and creative food presentation. In addition to preparing daily meals for my family, I have extensive experience adapting recipes to meet dietary needs, including gluten-free, reduced-sugar, and lower-fat modifications. My healthcare background as a Registered Nurse (RN, BSN) has further strengthened my understanding of nutrition and healthy food choices. I enjoy teaching practical cooking and baking skills, including kitchen safety, meal planning, following and modifying recipes, ingredient substitutions, baking fundamentals, and budget-conscious cooking. As a homeschool parent and mother of neurodiverse children, I have experience teaching life skills in a patient, supportive, and individualized manner. My goal is to help students gain confidence, independence, and enjoyment in the kitchen while developing skills they can use for a lifetime.
Sewing

Sewing

I have over 35 years of sewing experience and began sewing at approximately age 10. I completed sewing classes in high school using Bernina sewing machines and developed skills in garment construction, pattern reading, alterations, and sewing techniques. Over the years, I have created a wide variety of projects including clothing, dresses, skirts, pants, shirts, dress shirts, baby clothes, quilts, stuffed animals, and slippers. While I now sew primarily for my family, I continue to regularly perform clothing repairs, hemming, alterations, and custom modifications. I also have experience assisting with specialty and creative sewing projects, including costume accessories such as custom furry tails and claws. My teaching approach focuses on building confidence through step-by-step instruction in sewing fundamentals, machine operation, pattern use, alterations, and practical sewing skills. As a homeschool parent and experienced educator, I enjoy helping students develop sewing skills at their own pace while encouraging creativity, problem-solving, and independence.
Spanish

Spanish

I have been fluent in Spanish for 29 years and am proficient in speaking, reading, and writing the language. I learned Spanish as a young adult and developed fluency through formal study, daily use, and immersion while living in Spanish-speaking countries. I completed a nursing foreign exchange program in Guatemala and lived in El Salvador for 18 months, where I communicated extensively with native Spanish speakers in both professional and everyday settings. I have experience as a Spanish interpreter and translator and served as an interpreter in two hospitals, facilitating communication between healthcare providers and Spanish-speaking patients and families. I also taught English to native Spanish speakers in El Salvador and later continued teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) to both children and adults in the United States. In addition, I taught Spanish to homeschooled students in kindergarten through 8th grade at a private homeschool enrichment program. My teaching approach focuses on practical communication skills, vocabulary development, grammar, reading comprehension, pronunciation, and building confidence in conversational Spanish. I strive to create a supportive and engaging learning environment that helps students develop real-world language skills while adapting instruction to each student's age, experience level, and learning style.

Fantastic

"I highly recommend Rebekeah. She demonstrates a deep understanding of the subject matter. Each week, I share my syllabus with her, and she thoughtfully reviews it, creating a tailored plan of action. She then provides NCLEX-style questions aligned to my syllabus, helping identify both my strengths and gaps. With that insight, she focuses our sessions where they are most needed. She excels at breaking down complex concepts into clear, understandable terms, making even difficult topics accessible. Throughout, she holds me accountable, demonstrating the well-rounded expertise of an exceptional nurse and educator."
