I have over 10 years of experience teaching high school students in Physics, Chemistry, Astronomy, and Geology, along with more than 15 years of one-on-one tutoring experience. Throughout my teaching career, I have worked with students aged 14 to 18 in classroom settings and have also tutored individuals of various ages in personalized environments.

Having lived overseas for nine years, I bring a global perspective to my teaching and enjoy connecting with students from diverse backgrounds. Additionally, I am fluent in Japanese, which allows me to support bilingual learners when needed.

My tutoring approach is personalized and results-driven. I focus on adapting lessons to each student’s unique learning style, building their confidence, and making science engaging and relevant to real-world applications. Over the years, I have helped students improve their grades, master challenging topics, and excel on exams such as AP Physics, AP Chemistry, and SAT Subject Tests.

Whether you need help with homework, test preparation, or a deeper understanding of scientific concepts, my aim is to make learning clear, approachable, and enjoyable. My goal is to help every student feel confident and achieve success in science.

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

As a high school physics and engineering teacher, I integrate algebra into my daily lessons and classroom activities. Each day, I explore complex topics such as motion, energy, and forces, where algebraic equations play a crucial role in problem-solving. For instance, I often guide my students through various real-world applications, such as calculating the trajectory of projectiles or analyzing the efficiency of different engineering designs. By emphasizing the connections between algebra and practical applications, I help students develop a deeper understanding of both mathematical concepts and their relevance in the fields of physics and engineering.
Chemistry

Chemistry

I’m a high school science teacher with years of experience making chemistry concepts accessible and engaging through real-world examples and hands-on experiments. I adapt my teaching to each student’s learning style to help them build a solid understanding of the subject.
Earth Science

Earth Science

I have taught this class in high school to hundreds of students. I am certified to teach it by the state of Utah Department of Education and have taught the class for several years.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

I have taught math and science for over ten years as a high school teacher. Additionally, I have helped many of my own children through this learning journey.
Geometry

Geometry

For more than a decade, I’ve had the pleasure of teaching and tutoring all levels of high school math, including geometry. My passion for math shines through in my engaging lessons, where I strive to make complex concepts accessible and enjoyable for every student!

Clear and knowledgeable explanations

John B. helped me understand the physics topics of power, work, force, momentum and their relationships in just one session. He had interesting stories that illustrated these concepts clearly. I had thought that work was work but he explained that there are different perspectives. For example, a person pushing on a wall that does not move, does no work from the perspective of the wall, but they DO do work from the perspective of their body's muscles. This will really help me in my physics class. I highly recommend John B. as a physics tutor.
