Hello! My name is Dawn. I have been teaching K-2 students for the past 22 years.
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Arkansas. Additionally, I have two masters degrees. The first is a Masters of Science degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and the second is a Masters of Science in Elementary Education, both from the University of Arkansas. I am certified to teach Pre-K through 4th grade students.
Previously, I have taught second grade students for 14 years and first grade students for 8 years. In the fall of 2025, I will begin teaching Kindergarten students. During the last 22 years, I have taught core subjects such as Phonics, Math, Reading, Writing, and Science/Social Studies. I work hard to build trust with students because I feel a trusting relationship helps students learn better.
I am trained in UFLI, The Science of Reading, and Phonics First curriculums. Most of my teaching career, I have taught iReady Math. But, I also have experience with Saxon Math and Eureka Math. In Reading, I have taught the Benchmark curriculum. In writing, I like to begin by teaching young students the importance of correct letter formation, spacing, and how to create a simple sentence.
It is my hope that I can be the person you are looking for to help your student learn.
