Hello! My name is Erika and I am a junior at John Brown University. I grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, where I graduated from high school in the top 15% of my class. I was highly involved in AP and Honors courses and many after school activities. I am now pursing a degree in Christian Ministries and Formation at John Brown University, where I am also involved in Choir and Student Ministries. I spent much of my time last semester as a Gateway Mentor, meaning I was the upperclassman mentor for a group of 23 new students. It was my job to help them make a successful transition and to be a resource on campus.
I enjoy swimming, singing, reading, music, and the outdoors. I am passionate about seeing people succeed and helping them to achieve their fullest potential. It brings me great joy to help others achieve their goals. I have experience with people of all ages, including elementary school students and other college students. I am an extrovert who loves seeing the best in people.
I am pursing a degree in Christian Ministries at a small, Christian college. I have successfully completed coursework in New Testament and Old Testament survey classes, as well as other theology and book study classes.
As a Gateway Mentor, it was my responsibility to hold study sessions for the students I mentored and to make sure that they felt they had the skills to study on their own. Much of what I did was teach different tips on how to study best for various types of tests and how to lay out your planner so that students spend their time efficiently.
I have experience in a variety of subjects because of my liberal arts program. Once given a subject, I can find ways to engage nearly any student in the interesting facets of the subject.
I have completed coursework in World Religions, covering Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism.
I would love to help you re-engage with any subject and show you how to best use your valuable time to ensure a successful educational experience. Learning is always fun if you know the
