With over 20 years of experience in creative innovation, brand management, and design leadership, I bring expertise to tutoring in graphic design, art, design thinking, marketing innovation, Adobe Creative Suite, and customer experience design. My educational background includes a Master of Fine Arts in Art with an emphasis in Graphic Design from the University of Idaho and a Bachelor of Science in Art and Design with a minor in Cross-Cultural Communication from John Brown University. Additionally, I have specialized training in Customer Experience Design from the University of Oklahoma and Design Thinking from Harvard University. These qualifications and my real-world experience leading creative teams and developing brand strategies allow me to combine theory with practical experience to help students learn.
My teaching experience spans over 15 years as an Associate Professor of Graphic Design at John Brown University. I also served as the Program Director for the MFA in Collaborative Design. In these roles, I developed curricula, taught graphic design, art, and design thinking courses, and mentored students in undergraduate and graduate programs. My approach to teaching focuses on practical expertise in art and graphic design, human-centered design, and facilitating real-world problem-solving experiences that prepare students for industry challenges. I work one-on-one with students, mentoring them in portfolio development, branding strategies, and innovative design solutions.
My experience in both academic and corporate settings allows me to bring a practical, industry-relevant perspective to tutoring, helping students bridge the gap between design theory and professional application.
