Accent Reduction

Accent Reduction

With nearly 20 years of specialized experience in articulation training and communication science, I provide structured accent modification instruction tailored to each student's personal and professional goals. I have a deep understanding of the precise sound systems of multiple languages and use that knowledge to identify individualized speech patterns. This, in turn, is used to create structured and systematic lesson plans. In our sessions, I explicitly teach the mechanics of General American English, guiding students through anatomical placement of articulators, voicing adjustments, and tonal strategies required to modify native language dominance. My tutoring approach bridges the gap between phonetic theory and real-world execution. I break down complex sentences and phrases into manageable practice drills, then build the student's capacity to increase connected speech. I help non-native speakers master English rhythm, intonation, and stress patterns. Whether you are an ESL professional aiming to eliminate communication barriers in the workplace or a student mastering code-switching, our interactive lessons will focus on targeted feedback and structured practice routines. Together we will build your linguistic flexibility and elevate your everyday speaking confidence!
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

I have been working with students on the spectrum for the duration of my 18 year career; I specialize with individuals looking to sharpen their professional communication and social thinking skills. I have worked as the lead teacher in a high-school classroom for students with ASD where we focused intently on social skills and real-world application while focusing on relationships and executive functions. I also have vast experience as private instructor and develop individualized plans for students to help them achieve their goals. I use a Theory of Mind approach with students to sharpen their empathy and support their desire to strengthen their friendships. I design engaging lessons by using student led topics, movie clips, and performance based language activities to help students understand the nuances of language and communication that are the foundation of social relationships.
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

Along with being a communication expert, many of my professional roles have included public speaking. Professional development seminars, guest speaking at conferences, group tours, and welcome speeches. Personally, my largest live audiences hover around the 500 mark, but more importantly I coach individuals on their communication strategies. Reflective questions and direct feedback are used to guide my clients toward confidence and clarity.
Special Needs

Special Needs

Over a decade of experience working as a teacher on student support teams in both private and public school settings, I understand that each student has very individualized needs. I specialize in executive functions and social thinking strategies for school aged students. As a certified speech pathologist, I can support most needs regarding communication difficulty.
Speech

Speech

I have spent 18 years instructing students on mastering their speech systems, especially as it relates to their receptive language, reading, and writing development. I currently hold my national certification through the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHS) and work with students of all ages. My lessons are highly interactive, filled with direct and targeted feedback tailored to the goals of each student. I have a structured approach that builds on the strengths of the student in order to best target the placement, voicing, and manner of each phoneme. I work towards mastery helping students build confidence with their sound systems and generalizing the skills into real world contexts with connected speech.
