About Anne

Bio

I graduated from Texas Christian University with a Ph.D. in Chemistry (specifically Materials Chemistry) and am currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at the FDA. I earned my B.S in Chemistry with a minor in Physics from Grove City College in Pennsylvania. Both as an undergraduate and a graduate student, I was deeply impacted by the professors and their enthusiasm for their subject, as well as the necessity of peers to work with and learn with.

Both as an undergraduate and a graduate student, I was deeply impacted by the professors and their enthusiasm for their subject, as well as the necessity of peers to work with and learn with.

As a tutor, I love seeing my students progress from being stressed and overwhelmed when approaching a problem, to saying "I can do this!" I've experienced the frustration and anxiety that comes when I can't seem to understand a concept, and know that learning while anxious is nearly impossible. Keeping my students in an open learning mood is my first priority, followed by building up their confidence by showing them how much they do know, and finally filling in or clarifying anything they've missed or forgotten.

As an undergraduate student, I spent a significant amount of time working as a lab teaching assistant in introductory labs for engineers and non-majors, as well as analytical chemistry. This continued in my doctoral work, where I TA'd three semesters of general chemistry lab and one of quantitative chemistry. Following this, I spent two semesters as an assistant adjunct instructor of a general chemistry lab, where I worked with the head professor to design lab experiments, prepare lab TAs, give lectures, and design/grade assignments/tests.

I have also worked with several undergraduate and high school students on topics in general chemistry and AP chemistry. Some of these students were just wanted to push their grade up a little higher while others were hoping to pass the class. With my help, both types of students were successful in achieving their goals.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions, or to schedule lessons. Please note, I am unable to access Wyzant while at work, so response time may be slower during daylight hours.

So patient and accommodating!

Anne was so accommodating. I was lost on my chemistry problems and broke it down into manageable lessons and I’m doing so much better! Highly recommend!!

Excellent tutor!

Anne was just absolutely wonderful with my girls! They are both 20yr old college students who needed help in Chemistry. Anne was patient and kind and taught my girls in a way they finally understood! They will be continuing to take sessions with Anne. We appreciate her so much & highly recommend her!

Helpful and accessible

Anne worked with my senior who was falling behind in AP Chem. They discussed some specific concepts my senior was struggling with, and she feels more confidant now.

Phenomenal, Insightful, and most importantly Patient!

I was struggling with my General Chemistry I Lecture for College; in fact I was on the verge of failing. I met Anne halfway through the semester and she managed to pull off a miracle; she not only taught me the rest of the semester but taught me the first half of the lessons my professor was failing to properly teach in a way I would understand. There were times when I felt like I wasn't understanding the material but Anne would encourage me and ALWAYS repeated something if I said I couldn't remember or understand. I went into my Final Exam thinking I could pass the course pass with a "C" if lucky but anticipated getting a "D". After all, I struggled with the course from High School all the way into College. MY FINAL GRADE FOR THE COURSE WAS A FREAKING "B"!!! I was so happy!!! Now I am taking General Chemistry II Lecture and you bet I made sure Anne was my tutor again from the very start of the course. I highly recommend her if you struggle with Chemistry; especially the mathematics portion of it. Her teaching methods are insightful and if you are willing to put as much effort into studying with her as much as she puts in the effort to teach you, then you will notice significant progress!!
