Hello! I’m Shawnrhea, a first-year elementary English Language Arts teacher with experience teaching fifth-grade students in a classroom setting. My educational background includes studies in Applied Science with a concentration in Management at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. I help elementary learners strengthen reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, and paragraph writing through clear instruction, guided practice, and encouragement.
In my classroom, I teach students how to identify main ideas, summarize passages, compare characters, and support their answers with evidence from a text. For writing, I break the process into manageable steps: develop a topic sentence, add evidence, explain the evidence, and write a conclusion. I use teacher modeling, sentence stems, graphic organizers, and discussion to help students organize their thoughts and work toward greater independence.
My approach is patient, structured, and responsive to each learner. I check understanding through questions, short reading tasks, and writing samples, then adjust instruction based on what the student demonstrates. I welcome students who need concepts explained another way or extra practice before moving forward. My goal is to help children build lasting skills and the confidence to ask questions, learn from mistakes, and keep trying.
