I have always loved math and been someone that friends, family, and classmates could turn to whenever they had questions. My professional tutoring journey began while I was an undergraduate student. I have always loved math and been someone that friends, family, and classmates could turn to whenever they had questions. My professional tutoring journey began while I was an undergraduate student. Since then, I have earned a B.A. in Math from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. I have also taken graduate-level education courses, including classes covering curriculum design and content-area literacy. In 2019, I passed the PRAXIS 5161 exam which covers math content for grades 7-12. These academic and professional milestones have given me a strong foundation for teaching and tutoring students at a variety of levels.
Before working as a tutor, I volunteered through a program at my local library, called "Count Up", helping to build students' confidence and math skills at no cost to them. I also volunteered as an ESL tutor, helping adults learn English as a second language. Over the past five years, I've worked with students in both one-to-one and small group tutoring, tutoring in person as well as remotely.
My experience includes more than 300 one-to-one students and spans a wide age range, from middle-school students building foundational math skills to adults preparing for teacher-certification exams. Whether you're learning slope or implicit differentiation, I'm here to assist! My teaching approach is student-centered, focusing on clear, scaffolded instruction using an "I do, we do, you do" model. This method allows students to first observe, then engage with guidance, and finally apply concepts independently, building confidence and mastery at each step.
It continues to bring me joy when students grasp new concepts, grow their confidence, and have fun learning. I’m prepared to meet you where you are and be a patient and supportive presence throughout your learning journey. I'm always happy to answer any questions that you might have and look forward to meeting with you!
