Hello! I'm Darrin, a third year medical student. I am a graduate of the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. I have a passion for education and it is my mission to help medical students study for their pre-clinical courses and crush the USMLE Step 1 exam.

Hello! I'm Darrin, a third year medical student. I am a graduate of the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. I have a passion for education and it is my mission to help medical students study for their pre-clinical courses and crush the USMLE Step 1 exam.

I have been tutoring medical students for over 3 years now to help improve academic performance and confidence in pre-clinical curriculum so they can ultimately succeed in their clinical clerkships. I have had the privilege to work with dozens of students for over 500 hours as a tutor through my medical school. I take pride in helping my students understand difficult concepts, learn crucial test-taking skills, and develop effective study plans to tackle medical school. Some of my research in medical school is also focused on improving peer tutoring practices and how to effectively tutor students to become successful medical students.

I am a fourth-year medical student at an accredited allopathic school of medicine (University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine) where I passed the USMLE Step 1 exam on my first attempt and achieved a 250+ Step 2 score while maintaining straight As on my medical school curriculum to finish the top third of my class. I have served as an official tutor and learning specialist through my institution’s Educational and Student Success Center as a general curriculum tutor and for the Step 1 exam, earning over 500 hours as a tutor. My tutoring involves content review, studying strategies, and test-taking approaches to optimize testing performance based on academic research data and creating individually tailored study plans for students with academic accommodations or in need of peer tutoring. My tutoring and teaching strategies have been developed for over 2 years of taking standardized NBME exams, 2 passes through UWorld's Step 1 question banks, USMLE Step 2 studies, and working with dozens of students in a peer-reviewed, professional work environment through my medical school.
