Hola! Bonjour! Hello! My name is Dawn. It is great to meet you! Here we go- just a little bit about me- I was a teacher for 20 years in 3 different states. My bachelor's degree is in Communicative Disorders with a minor in Psychology. I have a lifetime teaching certificate in mild-moderate special education as well. I started teaching in 1995 and took an early retirement in 2017. I was also a private tutor for many of my teaching years and also worked at Huntington Learning Center for 3 of those years. Since then, I have been tutoring and running my businessin Jonesboro, Arkansas. We specialize in ACT prep, Accuplacer prep, and private tutoring for students k-12. Our motto is "We instill confidence. Confidence leads to success."
Students: My first goal for you is to gain confidence in your learning. Being successful is the key to gaining that confidence. Secondly, in order to individualize your programming, I determine your skill level in the targeted subject. Individualized programming is crucial and will maximize the benefits of our tutoring sessions. Pacing is also an important part of the tutoring or test prep process. We will work to determine the pace you are most comfortable with. Moreover, we will determine your learning style, strengths and areas of need to carefully design the right curriculum plan for you! Lastly, I require a lot of laughing and smiling during my tutoring sessions, so be prepared!
Because I have taught in multiple states and worked with a variety of grade levels for over 20 years, I feel my experience aides in determining the right path for each individual. I began working with high schoolers on ACT prep in 2017. I love it! It is, by far, one of the best jobs I have ever had. When the opportunity came up to purchase the business I was working for, I could not pass it up! It is my passion and something I never thought I would ever do!
