I am a certified educator with a master’s degree in teaching and 10 years of classroom teaching experience, along with extensive one-on-one tutoring experience. I currently work as a virtual teacher, designing and delivering engaging, rigorous instruction in an online learning environment. While I am certified in all core subjects, my instructional focus is mathematics.
I specialize in helping students build strong foundational math skills and confidence as problem solvers. My instruction is vertically aligned from upper elementary through middle school and into high school Algebra readiness. I support students in developing number sense, mastering fractions and decimals, strengthening proportional reasoning, and building the algebraic thinking needed for success in higher-level math. I also work with Algebra students who need targeted intervention or reinforcement.
A key part of my approach is helping students translate language into mathematical reasoning, especially in word problems and multi-step tasks. I use structured, evidence-based strategies to break problems into clear steps, identify key information, and guide students toward independent problem solving. I focus on identifying skill gaps, building a targeted learning plan, and using explicit instruction with consistent checks for understanding to ensure mastery. My goal is to help students gain both confidence and long-term independence in math.
Sessions with me are interactive, structured, and student-centered, with the goal of developing long-term independence. I place strong emphasis on confidence-building and reducing math anxiety. Many students enter tutoring believing they are “not a math person,” and I work intentionally to shift that mindset through structured success, consistent progress, and supportive instruction. My focus is not only on helping students understand math in the moment, but on equipping them with strategies they can apply across grade levels as they move from upper elementary concepts through Algebra and beyond.
