Hi, I'm Steven!
I'm a graduate student in Civil and Structural Engineering at the University of Arkansas, where I work at an advanced level with the same foundational subjects that many students find most challenging: algebra, trigonometry, mechanics, structural analysis, calculus, and more. Hi, I'm Steven!
I'm a graduate student in Civil and Structural Engineering at the University of Arkansas, where I work at an advanced level with the same foundational subjects that many students find most challenging: algebra, trigonometry, mechanics, structural analysis, calculus, and more. Along with a bachelor's in civil engineering and an in-process master's in civil engineering, I have minors in mathematics and applied science, rounding out my experience well.
My academic background gives me a deep, practical understanding of these topics, and I'm passionate about breaking them down in a way that actually makes sense rather than just memorizing formulas. The goal is a deep, long-term understanding of the concepts, not just make-it-through-the-exam memorization.
What I Tutor
I specialize in:
Mathematics (algebra (pre-, I, and II), geometry, calculus (pre-, I, II, and III), trigonometry, differential equations)
Structural/civil engineering (Structural analysis/design, and Hydraulic analysis/design)
Physics (Statics, and Mechanics of Materials)
My Teaching Approach
I believe the best tutoring is built around your learning style, not a one-size-fits-all method. Together we will find out what your needs are and how you learn best. I focus on building genuine conceptual understanding so that you can tackle problems you've never seen before, not just the ones we practiced together. Sessions are collaborative, judgment-free, and paced to where you are, not where I think you should be. I have several years of experience in tutoring high level courses, so I have experienced students coming from all different levels of understanding. It is never too early or too late to ask for help. I hold lower rates than most tutors because I believe help should be as affordable as possible.
